Hello, I have my Kymco People 50S 4 strokes, with a 72cc kit, power camshaft, the original air filter, original CDI (modified), jet #92, polini variator, with rollers 7.6g and original exhaust.
My top speed is 46 mph (75 km\h) (on my dial), but I feel that I could going faster. I feel my engine retained at high speed.
At 46 mph (75 km\h) my digital RPM indicates the engine turns 8800 rpm!
But at this rpm, the motor comes down at 8500rpm and goes back up...
Is it possible is the CDI ?
What is the maximum RPM this engine can go ?
Do you think i can go faster or it's the maximum my motor give ? Thank's!

You could go faster by installing taller gears, and bring engine RPM down by 500-1000 RPM.
At those RPMs the engine does not have sufficient power to maintain those speeds. Most of those engines are capable of doing 9+k RPM, (you can test this out by putting them on the center stand and revving them high), but at those RPMs the engine does not have much torque anymore, so it's not capable of going faster.

I'd put in heavier weights go up a gram should drop the rpms I like to run at around 8000 rpm max 46 is a good speed for a 50cc you may not gain anymore speed but its safer for the motor

I've heard that 8000 and above is pushing it. On my scoot at 8000 rpm I'm topped out, and not really picking up anymore speed, but it's not as good a brand as Kymco though.

On mine I top out around 54-55 mph (GPS) at around 8700-8800 RPM (as indicated), all stock as far as I know.

heavier sliders/rollers would most likely not do anything, as the variator is most likely already maxed out. Taller gears is the solution, combined with lighter weights, as the variator will be rotating faster.

Up the weights a gear upgrade on a 72cc kit isn't advised probably not enough power to push the taller gear

I don't know if anybody knows but your 4ts the redline starts at 8000, and at 8000 rpms the motor is screaming. The 4ts make their MAX horsepower at around 7500 rpms. So if your not getting good speed at 7500 or a little less rpms your scoot is not setup right. Running them 8K+ the motor will not last. Alleyoop

I've done about all that can be done to a 50cc scoot you can get the gears if you like but they work better on the bigger kits I've said all I can say I won't tell you unless I have tried it which I have

Millsc is right, If you do not have the power taller gears will actually slow you down. BBKS give you low end and more torque they will not give you more top end speed just by itself. Actually depending on what you put on the motor they will run at lower rpms than when stock. Alleyoop

I don't agree. If the problem isn't caused by a worn belt or rollers/sliders, then the next logical step is the gearings. If the engine is already reaching over 8k RPM, it has too much power to run with the stock gears, and a gear upgrade is needed.
If it is a 75cc BBK, my ATM50 has a 63cc upgrade and reaches to 47MPH, so you should be able to squeeze just over 50MPH out of it.
I'm sure the engine will pull the heavier gear, but I'd say only one tooth higher on the front and 2 or 3 lower on the rear or something). You got to take out the stock gears, count the tooth, and find something that's one or two steps higher.

So i have the maximum power of my 72cc motor. I see at 7500 to 8000 rpm the motor run very smooth...
I try to found the gear to put un the transmission case, but it hard to find!

That is good Vermi, Most folks think because of high rpms they think they have a lot of power that is not the whole story, you have to have good compression and there is no substitute for displacement which gives you the low end and mid-range power and torque to move the weight. You can take a high revving motor and it will be a dog because it may have low compression and is like a free wheeling wheel going up and down. Revving them up on the center stand with no load on the motor they will rev up high but get on that puppy and put a load on the motor and things change dramatically. Running these motors at high rpms you will either blow it up or you will be re-building it. Sure some 4ts you can wind them up to near 10K but at high rpms you start to get floating valves and BAM piston will be destroyed or you will have a crank come out the case. Keep it in the safer zone high rpms are the most common cause of internal motor damage. But some folks like to hear the motor screaming and think they are going 90mph then they are on here asking why the motor exploded. If you have deep pockets and just want to get some QUICK but NOT LONG lasting thrills then wind that little motor up Alleyoop

It is possible the 7.6g rollers are to light?
I have 8.3g and 8.5g, i put heavier to see...
