So about 4 months or so ago my friends scooter was stolen from his backyard in the middle of the night. He went searching everywhere for it. called the police also. after about 2 months he was riding around a neighborhood checking and saw all his parts in the backyard of some house. He called the cops. After going back and forth to court the police finally gave him his parts back. as you can see from the pictures it was a very nice scooter! and the bottom picture is what he got back including the frame which is not pictured.

Its sad people steal them and destroy them, i've worked on several scoots that got stolen and returned, only fixed 1 outta 10 they tear up the wiring and wiring is my weakness.

Atleast he got got something back, i had a peace sports stolen from me after throwing in a 100cc motor, cdi, variator, clutch springs, and carb. It was stolen at 7:00am in pouring rain. Cut the steel/kevlar lock somehow I never saw it again. little bugger could do 60mph. Even though it had 12,000 miles on it, i could have given it to my lady.

I definitely think thieves should have their hands smashed up before going to prison. It'd be much harder for them to do it again with permanently crippled fingers.

That sux. I'm sorry for your friend.
We've a local person who's been posting on CL about their stolen scooter. That happened about six months ago now. Or maybe longer even. I feel awful 'cause I can figure out he's not getting his bike back. Not unless it's like your friend's, in pieces.
Just sux that people can't leave stuff alone that belongs to someone else.

His scooter was in his workshop in the back yard of his house. His house is completely fenced in with these 3 geese that will attack you if you go into the yard ( i should know one of the fudgers attacked me today) lol Not only that they stole 3 of his scooters. the other two were his projects. He lives in a secluded area with no neighbors so i think thats how they did it.

Keep mine garaged so if it is stolen in addition to theft thats breaking and entering not just trespassing. Harsher penalties mandating restitution would help. The old system of indentured servitude to pay off these debts does not seem like that bad an idea (forced labor with your wages turned over to the injured party until the debt along with punitive damages are payed off).
