Did it strip the threads or round off the edges of the nut?

Try to hammer a slightly smaller socket on the damaged nut and make sure your impack it loosing if that don't work part stores sell a socked that will remove it also soak it with some penetrating oil

Maybe a really big channel lock or vise grip will get it,,or a friend that has a little welder can weld an old socket to it.
Ive even ground them(nut) down with a 4" angle grinder to the next size smaller,,that will work but you have to be patient.

Or grind off most of two sides of the nut to weaken it, (without damaging the threads underneath or the clutch bell behind it) and then give it a good whack with a hammer and cold chisel. Should break right off. The nut itself is inexpensive and relatively accessible.
Just don't damage the shaft whatever you do.

[replyingto=pmatulew]pmatulew[/replyingto]I didn't know there was a way to remove this nut OTHER than a large vise grip - lol. Or you could try what I usually do which is throw it across the yard and curse at it. That might do the trick...

[replyingto=sickopsycho]sickopsycho[/replyingto]You would be amazed what a 4" angle grinder can do,,it is my favorite tool,,I use it for everything,,cutting, shaping, sharpening blades, fabricating, body work, home projects, exhaust work,,you name it! You could cut that nut right off the stud and never even damage the threads if your good, slow, and steady
