Rockynv,Sounds like you really DID dodge the bullet! Also sounds like Aprillia borrowed from "the book of Harley Davidson" with the seal re-directing excess oil back where it belongs... But, most likely a lot better than reverse-threads on the crankshaft poking out through a hole in the block... LOL!
As the immortal "Red Green" used to say... "We're pullin' for ya... After all, we're all in this together..." Here's hoping all is well when you fire up the little nipper!Ride safe!Leo Cluster migraines that lasted the entire day got in the way so hopefully tonight after work there will be some time to fire it up and check for leaks. At the stage in life where we are working towards letting the girls find you handy. I believe you know what they say at Possum Lodge on that topic.

Not enough compression to start so the valves are floating on belt debris or the debris slipped the timing chain. Will have to pull the valve cover later this week and see.

And that little hiccup doesn't help with the migraines either... When schmootz gets into an engine, it seems to go EVERYWHERE! Might even have a piece wedged a valve-seat holding the valve open. We're all still pullin' fer ya... And I don't think the girls even find me handy anymore... BUMMER!Hang in there! Leo

Fixed my starter clutch strangely mine came stock with a 20 sprag. I got the same kind to replace it, but when I did that one didn't work either, I think I got a defective replacement. But it turns out only the big gear was messed up somehow (the teeth were fine though idk what it was) so I put the new big gear on the stock clutch and it worked so I'm happy with it. Starts first push now.

Yesterday, after 785 miles since last done, oil change number 20 was performed. Still running as good as ever, and no signs of wearing out are apparent. I have made a habit of checking exhaust header nuts, as well as muffler/swing arm mounting bolts, for snugness, at oil change time. After reading what Jerry went through recently, I pulled the spark plug cap and made sure it was snug too. Also removed, cleaned, and reoiled the foam pre-cleaner, that is wrapped around my K&N cone air filter.
9,716 breakdown free miles and counting.

Spent some time today trying to yank off the front suspension. Looks like I have to take apart the whole front end to take them off. I'm thinking there is something up on top of the forks that I can't get to that is keeping them from pulling through. Sucky. Ended up putting everything back together. Won't be doing that again.

Scooters have a single tree so if you want to just remove the fork tubes its all done from the under the bike without removing any plastic. You only need to remove the plastic if you want to remove the entire single tree to get to the steering head bearings. Remember to disengage the steering lock or the tree will not slide out after you remove the handlebars and any fairings mounted with them along with the steering head nut.

Hmmm. Maybe I just don't understand. Removed pinch bolts and pried open slot a little so forks could rotate almost freely. Still wouldn't pull straight out. Kinda like there is a washer on top bigger than the fork tube keeping it from sliding out. With all the plastics on I cant see what's up there holding it in

I unplugged him from the Tender, started right up (but I'd run him Weds for a while, which took about 5 tries to start). Went around the neighborhood taking the figure-8 route and zero issues going. I'll say that I was a bit tentative on the no-stop turns, but then I've always been a bit tentative on those.
Tom I'll drive to the shop and get Peej all tuned up with fresh gas and most likely a new battery. Yes, the Tender still indicates something hinky going on--steady red after I idled him, then steady green after a while, but later the flashing game resumed--fast green, fast green-red alternating, long red to green to long red. They'll figure it out tom. Otherwise I'll be without for a week or more. Which might not matter as I think it's supposed to stay stupidly hot near-100° all next week too. Sigh.

Spent a little time figuring out my front end. Messing with it and gaving up before must have tweaked something as it wouldn't stop in a straight line. Kept pulling to the side. I was just going to loosen everything and re-tighten when the bright idea hit me. After looking at it why don't I loosen 2 bolts and take the whole tree off? Coincidentally i just now read what Rocky said....same thing, LOL. The steering head bearings seemed loose and when I tightened them they just got crunchy. Decided to take it off and regrease. Plenty of grease in there put must be old. When I applied the good stuff and re-assembled it was all good! Here's where my problem was with getting the forks off. There is a cap on there. Thankfully I didn't have a big enough Allen key cause I was getting tired anyway So I'll have to take the whole thing apart once again to actually get at those caps...(unless I drill holes through a plastic piece that is covering them which might be a good idea.) Now that i'm hyper away of the shocks from the problems I've had, it's really noticeable how much they suck.

Just gave the babies a full wipe down wash and wax along with a lubrication. I try to do it once a week as to keep the parts clean nd rust free, also maintaining the headlights keeps the value up on the scoot or bike you are riding. If i knew how to post pics on this site i would of both my scoots, can anyone help me out??

That's why I caution people about buying a scooter from around 2008-2009, back then gas prices had gone through the roof and Chinese manufacturers were slapping them together as fast as possible just to make another sale, with the expectant results in quality and and reliability. (And reputation as well)

I adjusted the valves for the first time on my Genuine Buddy, which is pretty much a GY6. Lash was a very thin 0.08mm. The last time I adjusted valves was in the late 80s on a Mitsubishi Raider.
