Burgman! Aprilia is good, but it's right at a valve adjustment, and it probably has 12k miles more to go before it reaches the limit (meaning, it probably could get more, but any aprilia with 24k miles, probably will have certain engine parts to be replaced).

I guess we should not tell this to all those Aprilia 500 riders turning 50,000 to 80,000 miles with nothing more than oil changes every 6,000 miles along with scheduled CVT services and the occasional valve adjustment. Those with the 250 and larger engines do last a good long time. It was the Rotax 150 when pushed to the limit that did have problems. No rev limiter on those so people would run them at 70+ mph when the published limit was 55/60 mph.

All those "50,000 to 80,000 miles with nothing more than oil changes" riders probably are a bitter few! I would never buy a scoot with over 20k miles! In fact, I would never buy a second hand scoot, but I understand if others do (for price). Don't think that it's aprilia, that they go without problems! They still have parts that rust, and wear over time, albeit that they last a lot longer than a chinese scoot.

Between the two I'd pop for the Burgman. (a 10k difference is an awful lot of miles.)

The Burgman was sold soon after I posted the first post on it. And the Aprilia Atlantic had a salvage title which the owner did not tell me until I forced him to. So I got a great deal on a 2010 Linhai Aeolus 300 for $1300.00 only 2000 miles on it. From a retired man that just got his motorcycle liscence but don't like driving them. The scoots isn't scratched up at all with new Michelin tires, new spark plug, new battery, tall windshield and the small one, luggage box to. All for $1300. 00. I'm happy...

I am a believer in EFI and Japanese quality control and dealer support. Anyone tearing intot a wrecked Majesty or Burgman or Honda quickly realizes the modern scooter is trully very complicated with lost of parts and pieces. these scooters are not toys. They require a lots of pieces any one of which can cause a lot of misery and headache. They are not easy to repair which means they are not cheap to fix. So you want high quality build and warrenty. I am not saying Chinese scoots are not well made. The thing is it is very difficult to to findout how good the quality control of unknown or little known builders is. In Europe, it is all mon=m and pop and been in the family for years. Personal reputation is a must. But here it is imposibel to have a reputation the is more than adveritizing hype.

If that was a Light Blue Atlantic in Florida with a salvage title it may be the one I passed up on at $500. The original owner ran it till the belt shredded and dumped it when that happened. After that they tried for over a year to start it but finally gave up and sold it for salvage. Depending on how well they repaired it I would not go over $1,200 for that one.

Ok guys, I am loving the Aeolus right now but I have a quick question... what is the max speed on this scoot... I checked my gps and it says 76 and 80 on the scootmeter. But is seem like it can go faster but its stuck. Are there any restrictors on this engine. I heard that some scooters has an extra washer on the belt or the exhaust pipe it close. Any ideas....
