so i may have come across a free scooter motor. a buddy from work knows a guy that wants to get rid of his scooter cuz its just a big eye sore in his yard. it was in an accedent so the front end is junk but the motor is still good. now from my coworkers discripsion im left to beleave its a yamaha majesty a 395cc water cooled motor. so if i get it i may try and cram it into my lil 49cc scooter. now is that just retarded or just awesome. plus does anyone know if they make a kit to mount this motor on a Chinese scooter ? ive seen monstergy6 on youtube videos for something like this but not as big nor have is seen it for sale on there web site. if not what kind of headacks am i looking at doing this

Are you a welder? Chop the rear of the Majesty, chop the front of your scooter while keeping the VIN and tags, weld them together.

I think paladin's got the right idea. If your front end is close to the right size to fit the Yami's body, that is.
Absolutely post pics of this brute!

Reminds me of the days of the V8 Chevy Vegas. Hot rodders replaced the stock 4 banger with a small block Chevy V8. Of course, they replaced the solid rear axle with a larger one. if you didn't reinforce the frame, the doors would jam shut from the twisting force applied to the body by the big V8. They had to climb out the window. Your date must wear pants. The moral of the story is that replacing your 50cc mill with a 150 is reasonable. Ruckus owners do it often. Jumping from 50 to 400cc will present may problems, and it will be a lot of work. The larger motor is water cooled, so you will first have to facilitate that.

Better to find an abused Linhai and install it in that scooter.

It'd almost be like installing a corvette engine on a bicycle.

[replyingto=prodigit]prodigit[/replyingto]Hahaha I'd go with Corvette engine in a Civic. Sure it's possible, in fact it may have even been done before, but it's going to require so much custom fabrication and modification to pull it off... and still not really be considered safe or functional...

THe guy that won the Scooter Cannonball run last year took an antique Salsbury scooter that probably came with a ten horse power motor and transplanted a 250 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle motor in it and he ran like crazy blowing away all the other riders in the race. Here is a thread on the build www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=50015

beerguy, I suppose what this all boils down to is this--is your scooter your main mode of transport for you? Or is it for fun, a backup to something else?
If the first, then sounds like yes, you're looking at a world of headache. If the second, and if you have the time along with your inclination, then screw it and why not? You might make it work out into something pretty awesome. And then look at the fun you'll have!
