Adjusting the screw doesn't affect fuel for WOT, and could be why the plug is dark. I would entertain the idea that it needs more fuel anyway, just to see what happens. Try the washer/o-ring under the needle trick at least, if you don't want to get a carb you can adjust. Survey says you need a larger jet to run goodies, and the only way to be 100% sure is to experiment.

This will help you know what each part of the fueling system delivers and when. And don't believe what everyone says that the Fuel Ratio Mixture is only for idle they are flat out wrong and very easy to prove by the way. Alleyoop

Exactly if the mix screw adds air or fuel at idle it is adding the same amount of fuel or air at wider throttle positions. It may be a smaller percentage of the total fuel or in the mix but it is still doing something...

It seems like our scoots are stuck in a time warp similar to the cars and the 80's...no real new technology. These motors and the way they operate seems to have not changes in a long time! I will love it when computer controlled fuel and air mixtures are mainstream! About the Uni....I have taken this carb apart numerous times and The largest jet i have is an and it wont run with my setup. The Uni is still somewhat restricted correct? So if it runs good now and i take off the air intake cap and it stumbles thats making it too lean. Im not sure how this type of filter will help. Should be leaner.

I'm going to have to play with my needle jet a little,,it has more to do with the mix than I thought!
Thanks for that pic Alley!
As for the UNI being restricted,,well I don't think so,,its very free flowing,,Id say its like having no filter at all(almost).
You need to get a bigger jet for the UNI to work, upjet, upjet, upjet!

look ma, I can post graphs too! Sure, fuel going through to idle circuit may still flow at WOT, but it is incredibly insignificant compared to what flows though the main jet. Turning that screw is NOT going to make it run better if it needs more fuel at WOT due to mods.

If you modded/changed the air box and/or exhaust without switching to a larger main jet, you are going to be running lean.
On my stock Tomos Nitro 150 (made by SYM) the 80% to 100% throttle felt a little "flat". Overall the scooter ran very well, but by changing the main jet from 108 to 110, I got a little extra oomph on the top end.
The Tomos Nitro 150 has an air-cooled GY6b engine that cranks out about 10.5 hp, but above 50 mph you have to be patient when accelerating. That being said, when I whack the throttle all they way open at higher speeds you can feel a small increase in speed up to 60 mph, and then it runs out of steam. It can hit an actual 65 mph if you tuck in like a dork and give it a few miles.
I only ride that fast when tuning the scooter, normally I just need it to cruise 50 - 55 mph two-up with a little throttle left, which it does quite well.
