You should try making one out of a big can, like maybe one of them assorted flavored popcorn cans, like the kind you can get at walmart? I bet that would have some deep tones!!! Anyways that was very clever, and good idea!

its basically a glasspack. its not as quiet as he would have liked because theres no chambers, no turns. if he had done two cores side by side, one in one out, it would be much quieter. you would have to leave some space and not completely fill with fiberglass but yeah easy and cheap. id use washers everywhere tho not just on the top bolt

I would have gone with something a bit more premanent such as a heavier gauge steel Electrical Metal Tubing cutoff from the scrap yard and packed it but that is just me. I don't like having something that I have to redo every few months and will last the life of the bike but thats just me.
On my old bike I welded the old muffler back up replacing the rusted parts using $1 worth of welding rod and some scrap metal I had lying around.
The older gent who taught me to weld made a complete dual exhaust system for his suicide door 1962 Lincoln from some stainless steel tables he picked up at the scrap yard for a few bucks. He disected the factory mufflers and duplicated them in the stainless and they sounded even better than the OEM. They also had stainless tubing which he picked bought at 25 cents a pound which I believe at the time ran him about $15 to $20. 30 years later the last I saw him it was still setup like that and running just fine having never required any more exhaust work. He even put in drain valves to help make the mufflers last longer.

Wouldn't it have just been easier and cheaper to keep the scoot (and muffler) out of the elements in the first place?
