Make sure the two spade connectors on the coil are clean and tight. Could be the CDI. I would also check the valve clearance. .004 inches on both the intake and exhaust.

Something is arching check for water in the plug hole and check your cdi that the plugs are not holding water. DO NOT USE HOSES to wash your scooter you need to wash it by hand. The Electrics on the scoots are NOT WATERPROOF and can easily short out. Alleyoop

I've had similar problems... It was BOTH the CDI and the COIL. (You can get a nice no-limit CDI and a Bando-type orange coil as a bundle for around $15 on eBay). GOOD INVESTMENT! I'm going to get a second set and keep them handy... My factory CDI went bad the first month. I replaced it with a no-limit "red" CDI which ran MUCH better than stock. Also a Bando coil which improved running a little more. This year, the spray-wash did in both the cdi AND coil simultaneously. I got the pair (the "Improved" Blue cdi) and orange coil as a pair for around $18 incliding shipping. THAT fixed the problem. Alleyoop is right about keeping the goodies dry... I just got lucky for 4 years... Ride safe, stay dry!Leo in Texas

The blue causes strange running and starting issues at least it did for me, i suggest the orange cdi.

I have heard that from not just Millsc but from others as well, the blue CDI caused them problems and they just changed it and all was well. Alleyoop

Believe me... If/when I get it sorted it will never get washed again. Lol. Well you see, there it is Sir. I avoid these problems by sending my scoot out to be Dry Cleaned.
