I have heard that from not just Millsc but from others as well, the blue CDI caused them problems and they just changed it and all was well. Alleyoop Alleyoop,
Thanks for the "heads-up"! My old CDI WAS the red one, and my new replacement IS the blue one. Both ran like gangbusters: light-years ahead of the stock, restricted one that went bad the first month... LOL! I saw no difference between them, but I've only been running the blue one for a month. And, I really respect your advice. Both of the upgraded CDI's produced faster starts, smoother idle and snappier acceleration over stock, and WOT went from around 8,800 rpm to over 10,000... I definitely DID shut down immediately when it climbed over 10K! When they say "unrestricted" they're NOT kidding! Adding the Bando coil also added a higher, and smoother idle, requiring me to slow it down a bit with the idle-stop adjustment screw. I am going to keep a spare CDI and coil on hand, and will get the red one again. Sincerely, Leo in Texas PS: I have a brake-bleeder like in your video ordered. Can't wait to get "Lil 'Bubba" back on the street again!

That pair is exactly what put on my Xingyue 150. So long as your scooter CDI has the same 6-pin plug as the CDI, I'd think it would work, but I'm not knowledgeable on the 50's. Alleyoop knows his stuff... ! He should be able to tell you. He also has heard of poor reports on the "blue" CDI's. I had the "red" one last time, and it ran GREAT for 4 years until I screwed it up at the spray wash... My new blue one runs great too, but if Alleyoop has heard of problems, I'd stay with the red one to be safe. These upgraded CDI's really, REALLY DO make the scoot run better.Wish I could be of more help, but somebody out there can tell you for sure about the compatibility of the CDI's. I think the plug compatibility is the clue. Sincerely, Leo in Texas

I have the stock black one in now; fried the orange and the pink (red) one. To be honest, I noticed no difference between any of them on top-end or acceleration (my top-end sucks but my acceleration has always been good after I changed to Dr. Pulley sliders).

Thank guys. I have bought a few parts and just waiting for them to be delivered. I opted for a standard replacement cdi, new coil,ht lead, cap and NGK spark plug. This only cost £19 delivered for everything! Hopefully that will get it running again, failing that I'm stuck again. Will update when they arrive and are fitted.

New cdi has arrived, fitted it and its still the same waiting for the coil,ht lead and spark plug but doubt that is the cause as it has a strong spark when i tested it! But fingers crossed. is the spark any different when its under load?

Brought the bike to work in a van this morn all set to take to bits and see what's going on. I managed to ride it 500 metres, but was very boggy and sluggish. Then on the return 500 metre trip it just cuts out when any throttle at all is applied! This has to be fuel/carb issue doesn't it?
I will investigate further on my lunch break.

Installed a new bigger jet into the carb and it runs alot better. I have never been able to get over 40mph on the flat but it will now hit 45 on flat ond Off the dual going down hill. Went from a 78 to an main jet. Not sure if this has been the problem all along but it does seem to be heading in the right direction. Don't understand how when I've washed it,it would cause this problem to happen. It still hesitates and stutters when I first set off and will cut out when I come to a stand still so perhaps the carb needs tuned now. Currently have the a/f screw set at 2 turns out.

Could have been some kind of debris or blockage worked its way through your intake, into the carb and lodged in the jet. Or could have been totally unrelated to the washing and may have happened anyway.
Glad you've got her going again.

Cleaned the pilot jet and blasted the full carb out with compressed air. I managed to take the scoot out again today on a short 5 min run but it was very boggy and even cut out when revved. Got it back to my work place and had a quick look over it again on my lunch half hour and noticed that the short pipe from fuel filter to the carb was badly kinked and possibly causing fuel starvation. So I cable tied it up so that it hasn't got the kink in and took it for another very quick spin,2 mins max and it was great. Only very slight bogging and no cut outs. Also since I put the new cdi on the scoot this week it hasn't started with the electric starter,so I truer putting the old cdi back on and started it first click with it on! Strange.
My new coil,ht lead, cap and spark plug arrived today so I will fit these tomoz on my lunch break and try and take it for another spin. Hopefully I'm getting there.

Chops, 2- 2 1/2 turns out on the fuel ratio mixture is just a starting point. That will usually allow the motor to start and idle and may run not to bad. But you need to adjust the Fuel Ratio Mixture to get the HIGHEST IDLE(RPMS) then lower the IDLE using the IDLE SPEED SCREW. Go and Read how to adjust your carbs Fuel Ratio Mixture so it runs the best. Alleyoop itistheride.boards.net/index.cgi?board=tt&action=display&thread=12
