Thank you in advanced. Im puzzled. I fill the tank and the gauge states full. I don't ride much at all..like one mile. A week later the fuel disapates or something because the needle movea much lower than before. I thought my daughter was riding it, but I even hid the keys. My gas tank cap is on tight and I do not smell fuel around the engine. At this point, I am getting horrible gas mileage Thoughts? Thank you

Evaporation? You know that there is usually a vent on the gas tank, right?

Lykos23...are you asking me or telling me. No, I did not know there is a ven on the gas tank. Is the evaporation normal occurrence then? If that is the case, why do car not have this issue? Is there anything I can do to prevent this fuel loss because this evap is pretty drastic. Thanks again.

[replyingto=arielb1]arielb1[/replyingto]Sorry, I was trying to ask you. The gas tank needs the vent for pressurization or something and gasoline can evaporate quite quick. It's not as noticable on cars because of their multi-gallon tanks, but on a scooter when a fraction of a gallon dissipates into the air your gasoline meter is going to notice it. Cars mostly have evaporation problems when they're below half a tank of gas. wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_a_car_use_more_gas_when_the_tank_is_below_half_full

Is it possiable the fuel sensor is malfunctioning ? Ive seen it where it will read full come back later and it read down a little.. Best way to confirm it is to put find a clean stick, or piece of rubber tubing. Dip it in the tank and mark the spot where the fuel come up to, come back later and check again when the gas gauge has dropped for no apparent reason..

Make sure its not going into the crank case on a GY6,if you have a manual pet cock and sticky needle valve Ive seen the fuel go there many times...it will usually hydro-lock and smoke real bad if it does that.If its a 2 stroke,,not so much.

[replyingto=larry001964]larry001964[/replyingto]It could,,and also out the back of the air cleaner,,seen that too. Ive seen crankcases full to the brim with fuel and the carb stays dry as a bone on the outside.
