I have a roketa MC-54-250B. When I first start it up according to the rpm gage it is running about 2000rpm with in a few seconds say about 30 sec. it slows down to 1500 or less then after about a minute it goes back up to 2000 could it be caused by the choke I am also going to replace the fuel pump is the mikuni md44 single outlet a good one to use or should I consider a different model No. also is the clear pvc fuel line thats used on mowers, weedeaters and such okay to use from the fuel tank to the filter and then on to the fuel pump. Thanks in advance for any info I am getting tired of working on this thing and not getting to ride peacedawg

Well, too tell the truth, I have not touched my carb in 3 years.. Runs good, so I leave it alone. I realize, this is not the best thing to do, because it will eventually clog up.. I add some SeaFoam every once in a while. Most people do this, because carbs are cheap on 49cc and 150cc scooters. Mine will cost at the high bucks $194 + shipping. I had my MC-13-250 scooter for over 5 years and still running good. I would not be hurt buying a new carb., but I could still get use out of this- maybe another 4 years if cleaned it up, changed all hoses,.. The auto choke has an adjustment by it, but I don't know enough to say if moved, well which direction the scooter will run better at. I still need a new spark plug- the one I am using has been used for 2 years. I am usually a little better at keeping up with maintenance, but have slacked off a bit.

I just put the DF-44 211 on my scoot and I'm very happy with it ;D It is normal for your RPM'S to go down after your scooter is warming up The enricher (auto choke) allows more gas to start scooter, then slowly the needle will extend shutting off the extra gas, hold your enricher with your hand if its working right it will get warm to hot A high idle indicate running a little too lean, check all those vacuum lines and intakes to made sure they are tight. You can also take the enricher out and hold your thumb of the hole and start scoot, if its working correct the first few minutes it will extend out. BTW don't unplug it. Attachments:

I installed a manual choke on my scoot and have loved the way the scoot reacts. I don't have any problems with idle when cold. I have 9500 miles (Chinese Miles) and all I have had to do is adjust the idle to compensate for the choke. Life is Good....

Okay I got an answer about the fuel pump and choke but what about the fuel line. The thing is I never had a problem with my scoot when I lived in Penn. but when I had to move to SC. it hasn't run right. I was spending more time trying to work out the problem then getting to ride so I decided to work everything over I've replaced all vacuum lines I plan on putting in a new fuel pump haven't gotten that far yet. I work on it a little at a time mainly because I have broken my back in three different places and by about eleven am it gets up to about to over a 100 degree mark inside the garage no electric or vents (starting to run on again) Back to the move Penske Truck rental had me siphon as much gas as i could get out of the gas tank then run it until it ran out of gas after we moved it hasn't run right since. I have adjusted the valves and the fuel/air mixture like I said before any info replied will be appreciated peacedawg

Peacedawg, My personal opinion on the fuel and vac lines would be to to your auto parts store and get regular thick wall rubber fuel hose and regular rubber vacumn hose and clamps to match. Chances are the small spring clips from factory wont fit the new hose as its outside dia is a little larger. The rubber will just hold up and seal on your fittings much better and is more flexible than the plastic would be. Hope this helps you. Barnie

Peacedawg, as far as your choke situation, my JCLMP250 with the linhai 257 engine, mine starts and does exactly like yours. It always starts at the touch of button with no throttle instantly goes to about 2m rpm then few seconds later drops back a hair to goes to 2m rpms which is where I have the idle set. If its starts good and stays running ok I don't think I would mess with it. If it has not run good since u drained tank and ran it our of gas to move, some of the small passages in carb may have varnished up a little. You can try 1 oz seafoam per gal gas to see if that will help, otherwise a good carb cleaning paying particular attn to the small holes on the intake manifold side of the throttle plate. If you are very careful you can take carb apart/clean/reassemble with no parts or gaskets. set you a/f screw at about 2 to 2 1/2 turns out to start engine and if it runs good on road leave it there. Can I help you any more? ;)Barnie
