Well my name is Cam Stubbs, live in Victoria B.C. and I am new too scooter tuning. I only have my class 7N can go for my class 5 whenever just don't see the need yet.
My first ride was a tomos streetmate, with an expansion tube and derestricted throttle. Wicked comfortable but slow up to speed sold for the price I paid a year after I bought it and put 5,000km on it, still ran great.
My current ride is a 08 Derbi Bullet, modified when I bought it(carb/rollers/expansion tube/open air filter/derestricted). Was ridden lean and needs a new cylinder but I believe I will make it through the summer if im gentle. Paid $900 after getting it home and running. Has been knocked over at least once as there are a few scratches and the handle bars sit a little funny but I plan too rip a lot of the plastic bits off as I really like the "wanna be ruckus look".
I have been ridding scoots for 2 years now, will be going for the class 6 license and looking into a highway 2 person scoot but for now I just need something with lots of pep for maneuvering sidestreets around gridlock traffic.

The nicked up scoots are sometimes the best... No need to worry about messin up the plastics If I get another bike I would prefer one (probably a SV 650 or a ninja 500 or a GS 500) that is a bit banged up yet running healthily. Then I won't have to worry about falling and get down. And then I can have a bit more fun tossing the bike around and going into corners more brave. I took my scooter around my neighborhood to warm her up a bit (each day) as I cannot ride it on major roads right now cause I have a suspended license (got a DUI in my now sold car). I find the nieghborhood roads to be more fun in a way. Less cars and more twisties.

:)Sort of new to scootin. Started out in the 50's with a Cushman Eagle, my friend had a Whizzer motor bike. Jump ahead about 15 yrs and went with a couple of 100 & a125 cc's. Honda Dream in a 305, White single cyl 2 cycle with an expansion chamber and set up for flat tracking. Then a couple of 49cc Chinese, a 150 cc and now a 2000- 250 Helix resurrected out of a shed and had it running in about 2 hours. Took it on its maiden ride last Sunday (Father's Day) and did a quick peaceful 135 miles on it. I've got everything working except turn signals. That is the next project on this scooter. Oh by the way it was a free scooter, just for getting it out of the way. I had to buy a battery though, LOL. Living in Western MI near Lk Mi I'll be riding this daily until it is to cold. Also I'm 75 and am quite happy just going 65 & 70 mph now days.
