Well my name is Cam Stubbs, live in Victoria B.C. and I am new too scooter tuning. I only have my class 7N can go for my class 5 whenever just don't see the need yet.
My first ride was a tomos streetmate, with an expansion tube and derestricted throttle. Wicked comfortable but slow up to speed sold for the price I paid a year after I bought it and put 5,000km on it, still ran great.
My current ride is a 08 Derbi Bullet, modified when I bought it(carb/rollers/expansion tube/open air filter/derestricted). Was ridden lean and needs a new cylinder but I believe I will make it through the summer if im gentle. Paid $900 after getting it home and running. Has been knocked over at least once as there are a few scratches and the handle bars sit a little funny but I plan too rip a lot of the plastic bits off as I really like the "wanna be ruckus look".
I have been ridding scoots for 2 years now, will be going for the class 6 license and looking into a highway 2 person scoot but for now I just need something with lots of pep for maneuvering sidestreets around gridlock traffic.

like prodigit said depends on what function you want, the 2t are quicker but less fuel efficient. If you want highway capability the 4t 150+ are great.
I have a modified 2t with a very tired 70cc engine which still keeps better speed then other stock 50cc 4t & 2t but the price is that I have too rebuild the bike more frequently. I really enjoy its pep and ability to get out of its own way.
if you go for the 50cc 2t look for one with the best acceleration rating available in your area... I ride a 08 derbi atlantis bullet which a stock one is quicker off the line then I but my scoot does 120km/h and holds 80km/h on most hills due too all the modification done before I bought it.
