No, the credit card had nothing to do with ordering the wrong part, it was your mistake ordering the wrong part. Whatever you order FROM Whoever they do not know your scoot and even if they did 99% do not know what they are selling anyway and if it will work on your scoot. YOU have to know what part will work on your scoot and what you currently have inorder to order correct parts. Alleyoop

In my opinion I would use dot 3 that is what is used in almost all cars today and unless you constantly are applying your front brake (Only hydraulic Brake on most scoots) you will never get close to boiling your brake fluid. I hardly ever see cars with boiled brake fluid and they take more pressure (heat) to stop than a 200lb scooter. Another note is Brake fluid absorbs water which causes corrosion/ deteriation, that is why it goes bad if you leave a container of brake fluid out uncovered it will be contaminated within hours, personally I wouldnt use an opened container of brake fluid that is a month old. The fuse should be in a plastic sleve and be a long cylinder glass fuse I switched that to a micro fuse on mine. good luck

Finally figured out how to bleed my brakes properly (no air bubbles) with a small syringe and some 3/16" fuel line. Now let's see if my rear brake shoes fit...

Hi i like Dot 5 because one of its properties is, it doesn't damage painted finishes heres some more info DOT 5 is silicone fluid . Ideally, silicone fluid should be used only to fill non-ABS systems that have not been previously filled with glycol based fluid. Any system that has used glycol based fluid will contain moisture; glycol fluid disperses the moisture throughout the system and contains corrosion inhibitors. Silicone fluid does not allow moisture to enter the system, but does not disperse any that is already there, either. A system filled from dry with silicone fluid does not require the fluid to be changed at intervals, only when the system has been disturbed for a component repair or renewal. The United States armed forces have standardized on silicone brake fluid since the 1990s. Silicone fluid is used extensively in cold climate, particularly in Russia and Finland. Take care and ride safely Yours Hank So by that definition no scooter should use DOT5 unless you are replacing every component including all the lines and hoses and it does not have any form of ABS. They use DOT5 in antique cars only after they replace the entire braking system for the reasons you mentioned. Hi I always replace all major components with my own so i start fresh and new so no worries there Ive been using dot 5 since my military days as there basically no maintenance or worries of a failure involved once you have switched over and use it as it doesn't break down or degrade and as to scoots with abs brakes only a few high dollar maxi scoots use a true abs system for their braking system so theres no worries there either, the abs they tout is in fact a pressure limiting valve which limits just how hard the front disc brakes can be applied. NOT TRUE ABS www.scooterfocus.com/scooter_abs.htmlSo i shall continue to use dot 5 brake fluid for its proven reliability Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank

People make to much of these things, these are not Ferrari's that you have to stop doing 150mph. I have been using Dot3 for decades even in my hot rods at the drag strip NOT one failure in over 50 years. On my Trike never changed out the brake fluids and I have 10k miles on it been over 4 years now. The only time your going to have trouble is if there is a air leak or fluid leak or your breaks are worn or your calipers are shot.
To much toting this and that and poop going around and all that does is confuse people. Just tell it like it is don't be making up stuff that most will not believe in the first place. I don't understand why people do that, must be that it makes them feel superior to others or just to out do them or so others won't think they know nothing. Alleyoop

My rear brake shoes fit great, I tested it and now I can brake without a horrible squealing noise coming from behind. At least today wasn't a total loss...

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]You got that right Alley!! I've seen old bikes go 30 years with the same fluid and still work perfect!!I change it cause i like it to look clean that's about it..lol
Im used to riding a Ninja 900 R or a VTX 1800 where you need BIG DUAL"S on the front to stop,,on my scoot the engine breaking(CVT springing back) is so well I hardley even use my brakes hard.Hope that made sense ;D
