sounds like the exhaust is missing. check see if gaskets on there. or tightened down, good enough. look for black crap if it looks tight, around it, if it was clean.

Apparently I never had a gasket there to begin with, and the gasket from my gasket set won't fit. Is it really that bad sounding for a new bbk?

put a exhaust gasket on it and you can bend the tabs on your performance exhaust to make it fit

Just for you, but damn am I exhausted First I didn't think I'd have to take the engine out so I never looked up how to do so. So it took about three hours struggling with that. The rest was pretty easy.

DO NOT run it without the exhaust gasket do whatever it takes to make it work. Good job so far don't throw it all away by running without a gasket

Good job so far don't throw it all away by running without a gasket I still can't find a gasket for it, but I will order one Can I make a pseudo-gasket in the meantime? Here's a video of running with the performance exhaust (thanks to Millsc's tip), I wasn't afraid of breaking it this time, I just got fed up and bent the things in a frustrated manner until it finally fit. It was way more difficult than it should have been.

that sounds awesome the way it should sound Thank you for your guidance, couldn't have done it without you By the way, if it isn't blatantly obvious, it turns out I had the 64mm valves ;D

Very nice with the performance muffler, sounds great GOOD JOB. The first one had a leak that was obvious. Now break it in right do not rod the heck out of it right off the bat put some miles on it varying the speeds every couple of minutes to let the rings seat good and not at wot. You can run it up after 50miles or so and see what it can do and if you are ruuning lean at Wide Open Throttle. Alleyoop

Awesome estimation, Millsc. Now, what do I do about not having the exhaust gasket? Am I in danger of ruining my engine without it? I never had one to begin with, so I'm confuzzled.

it sounds great now, did you put a gasket in it and did you change the head?
