howdy hank -words cannot convey the disgust i have for anyone who gives in to their lower nature and steals someones scoot and their time and their money and their blood and their sweat and their hopes and their dreams and their peace and dulls their enthusiasm ----etc
if i was of the vigilantes that cought them , i would suggest MUCH pain be inflicted and something valued by them confiscated and a mark put on so that if they are cought doing it again , some important body part can be removed. if that doesn't work i might get vindictive---
lotsa miles and smiles to YOU ken

sadly the best theft deterrent is your ride looking like complete crap. i had a 1500 worth of stereo in my 500 dollar car and never had to worry about it.
use different kinds of locking methods, like a cable and a chain. a thief may have a tool to cut the chain but no cable, or vice versa.
one problem with most scoots- the ignition and steering lock is only 3 10mm bolts. if your wheels arent secure, a scoot thief can have your ignition unbolted and hotwired in under 5 minutes
might be time for a scooter alarm. i got a disc brake lock with alarm for pretty cheap on ebay. if you park near where you sleep, an alarm will at least give you some warning. also doesnt hurt to park your scoot where you have a motion sensor light. if they cant tell its a motion light, they may think they just woke you up and run!
as for the m60 story--- pics or it didnt happen! lol

I wouldn't mind being on the Scoot Squad. I'd take out their knees. Trust me, pooched knees are no fun. And probably last longer than somewhere else I could eviscerate.... Don't nobody messes with my friends! >'Kat

Hankers, I'm really sorry about Spectre getting stolen. That xus. A lot. Leo, I'm still marvelling that only 8 guys, not matter how beefy, could lift an OLDSMOBILE out of the way! It took five guys just to lift my Olds' back end and shift it a foot, so the other car's bumper was out of my wheel well. And when he stalled in the intersection, I worried the cop who pushed him back was gonna' have a stroke, or even explode. He was straining that much. Big fat heavy good cushy cars! >'Kat These guys (from a New Mexico "club" which will remain nameless, as I still value the few years I have left...) were BIG, and bad to the bone... The type you see in the prison yard documentaries averaging 6' 3" to 6' 6" and well over 300 pounds. They'd work out in their clubhouse bench-pressing old V8 engine blocks and like activites when not out murdering rival gang members or stealing. Any ONE of these guys could easily "bounce" a full-size 70's car over several feet, front or rear. Eight of 'em could lift a car to shoulder-height and set it on a trailer... They DID steal cars, too... Just like that. They're STILL no match for a dozen .308 slugs though. There are some Neanderthals out there who are truly frightening in their abundance of strength, and lack of conscience. When I was a young chopper-jockey I rode with several outlaw tribes, but the genre had NOT yet degenerated to some of what we have seen since the 70's. Back in my day, they were plenty big, plenty rough, but had a genuine love of riding and a sense of honesty and honor. No outlaw biker of that period would back down from a challenge, BUT, neither would he (or she) ever think of murdering a rival, or stealing ANYTHING... Let alone someone's bike! The baddest outlaw on the road would bend over backwards to help a struggling Madras-shorts-clad doofus on a broken-down scooter... All that trash behavior came with the dope trade a few years later. I'd be very wrong not to mention that there are STILL a whole bunch of really decent outlaw bikers with hearts of gold out there, but getting close enough to find out which type you're hanging with can get you hurt. Or worse.Leo (still livin' & learnin') in Texas...

It is all technique.

Hank - A motion activated web cam is a beutiful thing. By the time they cut the wire their Kodak moment will have already been emailed out to the people that you choose. A co-worker had her Fedx and UPS deliveries constantly getting pinched until she put in the cam which emailed her at work along with a few friends whenever someone entered her yard. She forwarded the pics to the police of the crime in progress and they were caught in the act.
In the next town over they have the "Wall of Shame" where you can post pics of theives and such that they catch in the act during their photo-op but the police have not been able to round up. People take note so the theives have to leave town before they have a mob on their tails chanting SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.... or worse.

Aw Hank, that's too bad. I'm sorrier now that the jerks not only stole your scoot but also your fun and enjoyment of upcoming scoots. And I really would like to take out some knees there. Me-OWW!!!
Yes Dave, this 'Kat has claws, and she's more than willing to use them for a friend's sake. Can't stand knowing a friend--even an online friend--has been hurt.
>'Kat, lovin' the kitty-clip. MeOWW! and baddies watch out!

I never had a dought Kat. Thanks Kat. You of most people should know I like to cut up. Life is to short. So I'm going to have fun with it as long as I'm not hurting anyone. Messing with my Family or Friend's guilty one gets hurt. Dave

Wow Hank. Gosh I'm sorry to read this, our best hope is because of Spector's speed the police pull the thieves over for speeding (I know doubtful). That bites after all the work you put in him too...
