I got up for work this morning to find my scooter laying on its side. It had been parked with on leg of the center stand on the grass. It then rained. Meh no biggie, i pick it up and go to hit the starter...click...clik. OK kickstarter....wont budge. Uh oh. Kick with starter...snap! Spins with no compression. 2008 jonway yy50qt6 sunny R.I.P. 6493.2 mi

Well. There was a piece of dipstick that had broken off in the case 4k or so ago. I think while it was on its side ths piece wormed its way somewhere important. I had pulled 130 psi compression a week ago when i did my oil change. I was expecting it to last a bit longer. Scooters to go said they will put in a 100cc stroker for $400. I plan on dropping it off this friday.

Sounds like it hydro locked Yup,,drain the oil,,I bet the crankcase is full of fuel causing high comp issue that snapped kickstart.Mechanical issues usually dont just happen when not being used. 1.New kick start lever (and possibly internal damage to gear) 2.change oil 3.charge batt good to Gooooo!!!!!!!!!!

Kickstarter still works fine. Something inside snapped.

You may have simply jumped or snapped the timing chain and left one or both valves open. Could still be a cheap fix.

Well I never figured out what caused the compression loss. But along time ago a dipstick broke off in my crankcase and happily lived there for 5k until my buddy knocked it over and the dipstick wedged itself into somewhere detrimental. Out of a 2inch pice of plastic i found maybe a quarter inch mangled piece after splitting my case for the stroker.

No signs of damage anywhere. I think rocky is right, the plastic dipstick got into the timing chain and it skipped hanging the valves open out of time. There is no evidence of the valves making contact. Just no compression. Glad i have a stroker now though. Convincing ur old lady that a scoot is worth the investment was the hard part.
