Any suggestions? I'm about to do an oil and transmission change on my Roketa Its got 1200 miles on it. I'm thinking on using a belt dressing spray on the drive belt, would this be okay or give me some problems. Tks

Belt dressing lubricates and promotes slippage. Not something you'd want in your CVT.

Those are for stationary pulleys that the belt turns but do not have slide up and down like the CVT has to perform and move the belt. Alleyoop

I don't really think the belt dressing causes slippage, but I also would think twice about using it on the cvt.

Belt dressing causes the OPPOSITE of slippage, that is what its for to stop it from SLIPPING, It makes it sticky so it grabs. When you hear squealing on a car belt it is because it is slipping and you spray the belt dressing on and WHO-LA no more squealing BUT it will eventually come back once the belt dressing wears off.
This is NOT for CVT use where the belt MUST move up and down withing two pulleys: Alleyoop

Don't do it.
Its a scooter not a car.
Is the transmission not working properly? Why would you "fix it" if it isn't broken? Belt dressing in my opinion is for people too lazy to change a belt.

[replyingto=1olescoot]1olescoot[/replyingto]Thanks for the reply. All post make sense, and I'm a little confused. So I think I'll leave "well enough alone". If it's not broke dont fix it. It is a Chinese scooter and most of the post I've previously suggest to do lots of preventive maintenance.
Tks 1olescoot

Preventative maintenance for your drive belt means replace it with a quality belt like Bando or Gates... If you already have a Gates in there your good

I would not use anything on the CVT belt. I clean mine up with a damp rag( a little wet with water and dry off). Using something slippery on the CVT or even around the CVT may cause one to wear out the belt faster.

Can you use synthetic gear lube in the YY250t? Any recommendations for brands?

1olescoot, the belt is one of the few things you really don't have to do any maint to. If it looks go and is not frayed etc your good to go for quite some time. If is a Gates or Bando belt you should get in the area of 10-12 thousand decent miles before you have a problem. Jack Rabbit starts will wear the belt faster because it slips until the variator and clutch can pick it up and hold it, but don't baby it either on starts as that's hard on your clutch. Just drive it like your car. Barnie WRX, I just use a good grade of standard 80- weight gear lube. It works fine and as often as we have to change it for maintenance sake it will save u some $$$. Barnie's opinion.

Yea, you don't need to do that to the belt
