I like castrol motorcycle 10w40 You can get it cheap at Autozone and you at this point should change it often so anything better would be waste. Later on I would think about changing to full synthetic...

Rotella 15w40. Its got a good name and its not too expensive. Royal Purple is nothing great. They just charge you more for purple dye and since oil turns brownish black after a while then you just totally wasted that extra money.

Castrol GTX 10w30, for a Peace Sports 50. It was seemingly me who did the first oil change at 1400 miles, now that the thing is over 2.2k miles in I'm about ready to switch to full synthetic.

If that 250 has an oil filter than go with the good stuff rated for motorcycles/scooters otherwise stay with a decent conventional motorcycle oil which will be more resistant to coking from hot spots or foaming from the higher rpm that a scooter engine turns at compared to most automobile engines.
I use Amsoil 14W40 full synthetic motorcycle oil in my water cooled 250 with full flow oil filtration since it is rated for 6,200 mile oil change intervals with that weight synthetic motorcycle oil.

I always run Amsoil 4 stroke synthetic oil in all my scoots and its the most popular oil i sell here at my store. Its pricey tho at usually around $10.00 a quart.

In a GY6 which only has a oil screen and no oil filter synthetic oil is just throwing money away. After the first 100 miles you will have suspended wear causing combustion by products and other particles in there and still need to change the oil every 500 to 1,000 miles which would be monthly for many people. $120 a year for oil changes is a bit steep.

Its a water cooled 250... We run that Rotella in all our tractors at work. I don't understand why you would run diesel engine oil in an engine so vastly different from a diesel...
