Ok brother,, I will check when the scoot arrives,,also will take some pics of things so you can point me in the right direction for exhaust. Now go drink some beer and eat burgers!! Tom Jerseyboy: I noticed in your signature you're using Shell Rotella "Synthetic" oil. Shell Rotella is not synthetic, it's mineral oil. You should change that.

I've got almost 4k miles on my tao ATM50, and it squeeks, but it's been ridden % of the time either WOT or idle, and it's still going strong. I wonder when that thing is going to retire? My TaoTao EVO150 has just over 2k miles on it, also problem free. They work best stock.

I've got a 2010 Tao Tao 150 with 6,800 km on it. I've had to replace the voltage regulator and two batteries, and the tires. I replaced the fuel lines, and replaced the plug with an iridium, based on info on the ScootDawg site. I've had pretty fair reliability out of it, except that before I put lock-tite on many of the bolts, things had a tendancy to loosen and fall off. I try to use non ethanol gasoline and have had to run Sea Foam through the carburator due to some bogging down issues, and I adjusted the valves. I just let it set from early April until last week, and it started on the third try. Oh, I also put a windshield on it. I run it in central Florida, and end-up having to run WOT most of the time. Before I adjusted the valves, it would just shut down after running WOT for a while, but then, it would restart and run ok. It hasn't done that since I adjusted the valves. I've clocked it at 58 mph GPS, while the china meter was showing 70. I did buy a Honda Reflex to do more highway riding, but kept the Tao Tao in Florida where I ride it near Sebring all winter.

Tao Tao is a typical Chinese scooter. I have a Tao Tao Powermax 150, and haven't had too many problems. It is also a very good platform for modifications.
PDI is a most. You will find loose nuts and bots. Check everyone before riding.
Be ready for parts to break. It's going to happen. But enjoy the repairs, it's a great way to learn about turning a wrench and small engines.
