oldchopperguy, you are onto something! The short time that I've been riding, and I'm finding out that this is a fun and AFFORDABLE hobby. The thing about my Chinese scooter is that it is cheap in both senses of the word, but you don't need an arm and a leg to pay for replacement parts--theyre actually pretty inexpensive. Also, it's not rocket science. Something goes wrong, and you can usually figure it out, or go on-line and get some direction. But what makes is all worth while, is the ride... It is the ride.
Peace Out, Bob

Hey guys and gals, what up? I am a 50 something guy, and I got my first scooter almost four weeks ago. My wife and I recently sold one of our cars and used the money to pay off some debt. I thought I was doing something to save some money... I had no idea how much FUN it would be. I only live about a mile and a half from work. I bought a Taotao Powermax 150cc scooter, and I have had some fun replacing the spark plug, coil wire, CDI, oil and gear oil. I call her Ling Ling!... [the exclamation point (!) is part of the name] in honor of her origin. Anyway, I feel it was worth the small cost, and I love being able to fill the tank for less than $2.00--it feels like the 70's again. very economical and easy to work on SO FAR. I have learned a great deal from forums like this, and from watching videos. So I am glad to make your acquaintance. By the way, my other passion is guitars...
Peace Out! Bob Jones

In rating should have read uncrating. I didn't look at my auto correct!

Hey, man! I'm a new scooter owner. I just got a Taotao Powermax 150cc. Go to YouTube and check out 90GTVert. He has a series of videos of in rating and the PDI of a Taotao 50cc scooter. I learned a great deal from watching those videos. I think he has a dozen or so. Anyway, good luck. I've been pretty happy with mine. I did have to replace the connectors on my front signal lights to get my blinkers to work, but that didn't take long at all.
