I just tested my spark on my Roketa MC-05-127, and I have none.
When I kickstart without battery, the instrument dashboard lights up, so the stator seems to work.
I have tried a brand new NKG spark plug and nothing...
What's next?

Hi Prodigit, Check all connections for being loose.. Take an Omms reading from the engine to the frame, see if the engine is getting ground, if so then disconnect the ground wire from the CDI, then see if you have spark... If so you have a connection grounding out the system.. Probably your emergency shutoff or something in the ignition system.
If those are all good then take an ohmms reading of your pickup coil make sure it's good.. If all that is good try a different cdi...

so far all electronics work, except for the spark. I just need to find the CDI...

howdy, that just sounds like the hight tension wire from the coil to the plug is bad or bad connection
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

Loose ground perhaps ? Did you ground the plug to the engine when you tested for spark ?

Well one thing since you do not have a battery there may not be a ground wire from the motor to the frame. Normally there would be a ground from the battery to the frame as well. So get a piece of wire put it on one of the bolts on the valve cover and find a nice clean spot on the frame to attach it to. Then you can test if the spark plug fires on the frame and on the motor. Alleyoop: That's a good idea! Eventhough the battery supposed to be housed in a plastic electrically sealed compartment, it only has leads from there. I'll try to ground also the body.

Are you really troubleshooting this bike's electrical system with one of the main electrical components missing? Go get a battery and put it in. The one they are sending you should go straight to the recycler anyway. Maybe the bike needs the battery to run.

Yep you should get a battery and put it in, if it is a DC CDI it does need the battery to feed the CDI. And in any event if you run it without a battery you will burn out the R/R and most likely some lighting whether its AC OR DC. Alleyoop

I have it currently hooked up to a portable battery. I think the ground should work though, because the lights and dash work.

I thought the word battery implied portability. Is a battery or a 12 v power source plugged into the wall
