What are some of the things that you do when it comes time to paint your plastics? Be it due to cracks, rock chips or whatever it is that has you painting?
Rough up the plastic before prime and paint?
Rattle cans or air?
If rattle can who's the preferred manufacturers?

Black plastic on my scooter leaches out some chemical and knocks paint off. ? If you are wasting time painting these plastics may think about a good primer. If not just paint it. It's going to fade/falloff/anyway. unless u use polyurethane then by all means do the prep.

Just plannin for the winter...I know with me cleaning her up and figured since the plastic will be off why not paint it. I've got a few uv and heat lights and stands to bake it once done so we'll see.

Well my whole scooter did not need painting, but some parts got damage when fell over in a thunderstorm. Done a little over $500 in damage. So the helmet shield was broke and the piece came in white verses blue. So a started painting other paints white to make it appear, that it came that way. Than put pinstriping on scooter, placed led lights on windshield verses mirrors, ordered new diamond shaped mirrors, black seat cover, ect.. until it looked cool.. ;D Attachments:

Whatever paint you use, put a coat or 3 of clear on top of it and let it dry throughly. It will give you extra protection and a gleaming shine, or not depending on the gloss factor you choose. I own a cabinet manufacturing company for almost 30 years, and we always clear coat after we paint.

Have any of you tried Rustoleum's or Krylon's clear coat? I've been reading that rattle can clears aren't that clear and if improperly sprayed, like too soon after the base coat, it can wrinkle or lift the paint.
I was thinking going down 2 roads after sanding and minimal body filler (wjere scratch gouges are deeper)
Rustoleum -Plastic Primer -Rustoleum Enamel -Maybe enamel clear (wait 2 days to spray)
Krylon Fusion for Plastic -Primer (maybe use Rustoleum plastic primer st least where there is body filler) -Base Coat -Krylon Clear? (wait 2 days to spray)
Thoughts?

Yep, I've done just that and they have wrinkled (and I had to do it all over again) My advice is to let the base FULLY dry before spraying the clear coat.
