Nobody wears a helmet here. Just some advice. Rent from California Cycle. They keep up the rental scooters pretty good. I would also rent a 2T if I were going to rent. Just a heads up from a local, as long as you don't drive crazy you won't have any issues with the police here. I have seen a few scooters pulled over over the last few days from people driving stupid. Enjoy your time in PCB.

Just saw this drunk kid wipe out on a scooter. Hung around until the fire dept and police got there. You could smell the booze on this kid. He was complaining about his head and ribs. I hope he's going to be ok. Attachments:

I lived in Fla for awhile. Rode my motorcycle a lot. Skidded on gravel & the side of my helmet bounced off the pavement. Got up & rode away. Never turned a wheel without my helmet on. Be your own person. Dont copy others. Brain cells dont heal. K Wayne.

DX (be your own person, don't copy others!)
We originally came to USA, the land of the free, not the land of the bureaucrats! Do as you please, just as long as you know the consequences. I ride without helmet on my 50cc, and love it. On anything bigger than a 50cc, going faster than 40MPH, I think a helmet should be required.
I used to ride a bicycle as a kid all the time, had a few minor falls, and in those days we never wore helmets for anything different than a motorcycle (which was 90cc or up; now is >50cc).

I told this story before (no, not about me and wearing my helmet-which is the reason I'm alive today) but of a guy riding a Triumph Rocket, two days old, 50 miles on it. Was coming to a stop, at the stop light, speed is now 0.0. Forgot to put his feet down, fell over, smashed his head on the pavement, ambulance came and took him away. Concussion, gash on forehead, scrapes and abraisains. I was right behind him. 40 MPH my big white butt. Even falling over at 0 can hurt. (Forgot to put his feet down, ??. Musta been a trike rider in a prior life)
Yup, bicycles and motorcycles/scooters/90cc/50cc.....all the same
NOT!!!!!

Dave Yes, riding with no helmet is definately a freerer experience. The wind in your face, the sun shining on your face. Yes, I agree, not wearing a helmet is freedom to the max
However, those of us who feel that a helmet ain't a bad idea, are just expressing our personal opinion also.
Yes, I wish there was no such thing as an accident getting your face smashed into someone elses windshield, or pavement.
Yes, the Florida sun, the sea air, the boardwalk, , the pretty women , it's all a great experience. I wish Jeff the bestest of experiences and the sun shiniest of days riding the scoot in the Fla sun.

I fully get what your saying & I would fight for your right to express Your personal opinion with all my might to preserve that Right. Or anyone else. And a lot of people Say the same thing till the shoe is on the other foot. I've never understood how that works. You have eluded to your injury. I don't know your story &i'm not asking you for it. I sincerely feel you & anyone severely injured OR Illness. Would be one of the 1st people to try & help any way possible. Have before & will Again. That's just the way I was raised. (Maybe it's a southern thang,I don't know.) I Personally Wish you the very Best... Happy trails & God bless Truly Dave
