Hi Jack, I did the whole thing, gearing and every thing.. The old airbox didn't fit the long case, but i made a bracket and I'm still using it. I'm just not a fan of Unifilters.. Everything was pretty straight forward, I changed the oil that came with it to a good dino oil for breakin, I used the piston, rings, gaskets and jug from scrappys bbk, the rest was from Fawkes original engine, HP cam, 50mm bb head, Hi flow Muffler, 20mm carb, had to go with a 100 mj the was too small and Fawkes was starvin for fuel, and Fawkes 17/49 gearing... The variator I haven't messed with but I did install Fawkes clutch and clutch bell from Hoca.. The roller weights are set up for a 50cc and I can tell I'm wasting power.. Ill have to address that issue next weekend... In most respects this rebuild went very well and without too much trouble.. One interesting thing Ill note on the new engine, they had a separate ground wire from the starter to a connector. So i cut it off and split the wire and ran the hot to the solenoid and the ground I ran it to the frame and grounded it, So this engine has two grounds... I should also say I'm using the HP CDI I bought from John ( tvnacman) here on it's the ride.. And it is working very well.. Fawkes when you hit that starter button just can't wait to fire up and go, I mean he fires up right now

Cool . I like to use thestock airbox too.I think my only issue will be with gearing. Really I only want to be able to maintain 40MPH without wot all the time, and good hiilclimbing.

Ohhhh 40 is no problem, but you will probably have to change the gearing to something like 16/50 and heaver roller weights, Personally i like sliders.. After that I'm pretty sure your baby will do as you want.. Ohhh I almost forgot to mention, the long case feels like I'm driving a bus LOL, not quit used to it yet... But I em falling in love all over again

Mine is already a long case with12's. I do however know exactly what you mean. My old scoot is a baja sc50. came with short case and 10"'wheels. when I couldnt get anymore parts for it, (quingjang qmb139,strange) I went to a long case and 12". Didn't like a 12 on the back and a 10 on the front, so I changed the whole front end to 12. Took a little getting used to at first. Eventually I would like to trick out the sc50, but the jonway is still new (500 miles) I just want to boost performance a little.I was going to just "slide in the 100cc, but we all know how well that went. So I'll start with a BBK &carb.

Well still have some fine tuning to do, I hate that variator weight combination, that came with the engine. I was going to work yesterday climbing the hill I call "Scooter Killer" As it kills a normal scooters speed.. Fawkes normally climbs right up it, accelerating as I go, yesterday I didn't lose speed, but I didn't accelerate either.. Have to adjust the fuel/air of the main jet a little more, I'm pretty sure Fawkes is a little rich, perhaps that will help... I just don't think I'm getting the power I had as a even a 72cc.... Tell you what this ain't going to work, if I can't get better performance from this combo, I'm buying NCY's cc kit...

Well I finally got Fawkes running right. Air/fuel, gearing, variator... Gearing is back to stock 15/52, main jet is 100 with the diaphragm needle one up from the bottom, so about 98. Varitor weights are 8 gram Dr pulley sliders. Top speed is 50 running 8500 rpms. He's quick to accelerate, and climbs scooter killer hill while accelerating. 17/49 gears were just too much for 83ccs. But when my bigger rear tire arrives we will see how well that does.

[replyingto=larry001964]larry001964[/replyingto]Wow! glad to hear it. Did you get the hoca transmission kit from scrappydog too? If you had that much success with your biuld,I'll probably do the same to mine, I was going to keep the new motor for my baja, but maybe I'll build it,put it in the jonway, and put the jonway motor in the baja, havent decided yet. I'd like to keep the jonway motor intact. Just in case, though decisions decisions....
