I just bought my scooter and got it running after being garaged for about 4 years. It only has about 400 miles on it. I was wondering if any of you have encountered any problems with this scooter at all, and if so what kind of issues have you had? Maybe they're issues that aren't typical of other scoots?
Also, what is a sign that you're air/fuel mix is too lean?
I'm currently having issues with taking off from a stop. I can start the scooter fine, it idols ok, but at slow speeds I'm having a problem getting moving. I'll give it gas and it kind of pauses and then all of a sudden VROOM, it goes. ..then once I'm moving I'm ok. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! ;D

Mine came running lean, bad (poor material) fuel lines and the fuel filter in backwards. The retainer clip in the spark plug wire was missing so the lead would fall off the plug.
Mostly mine has been very good for a cheap Chinese scooter.
Cold starts - I'd let it run while I gear up, - high idle for maybe 3 minutes, then it stalls and I don't start it again until I am ready to roll. Once rolling, I make sure to rev a bit at the first stop light then no stalling issues beyond that. I have a 107 and 2 spacers for the needle. Or rather HAD, because I am converting to EFI.

You sound like you're having the same exact problem as me! I have to rev it at a stop lights too but after she's fairly warm I don't have the issue any more. I though maybe bad gas at 1st, or running to lean, but maybe it's just an overall issue with this machine. Besides this issue, I have her running great! Thanks for your feedback.

The stock carbs stink . You need to check the valve lash.

Readjusting the Valves and it's a MILLION times better...but now I lost my damn Idle Screw  I swear I can't get anything to go right with this bike. Every time I get ahead I get knocked back. Please tell me someone knows where I can just order an Idle Screw?? |

Personally, having a second carb for making changes and tuning makes sense - I write on the top what jet and number of spacers for the needle, then I set the other carb a bit different. A second carb could also be good for spare parts....
Is it the idle air screw in the side with the pointy tip or the external idle screw that stops the throttle return? The external screw could probably be replaced at an Ace Hardware - though I don't know the dimensions.

It's the Idle Air Mix screw on the side of the carb. I set it a little loose because I thought it might originally be the problem and I guess it fell out at some point and explains my last breakdown.
Thanks again Steve! I'm not sure the dimensions either, but I'll try and stop over there at lunch time. So I've seen people talk about just using a screw. Is that what you're suggesting, or will they have different sorts of Idle screws?

The one in the side is a special screw. The throttle stop screw could be more easily replaced. A shop that deals with motor cycle carbs should be able to get a replacement - it is a Honda carb clone. www.amazon.com/Pathfinder-Scooter-150cc-Carburetor-Carb/dp/B00AR3LJC8If you pull the cab out, the screw may be underneath it - My Xingyue had dropped a float bowl screw and that was found on top of the motor when I had the carb out. |

I'll take a look, but I'm pretty sure I lost it while riding. Wow, that's really cheap for a replacement carb!!
I think I know why I lost the screw now....there's supposed to be a spring in there with it, isn't there?

Yes it should have a spring. What goes in the carb in this order: rubber "o" ring, metal washer, spring, screw.

Here are the parts and they go on in that seq: Now If the screw and spring fell out THE WASHER and O-RING may still be in there. The washer covers the O-RING so when you look in there it may look like they are missing but the washer and O-RING may still be there. You have to get a piece of wire and probe to see if they are there. You are better off just getting an aftermarket carb the set screw, spring washer and o-ring run close to $20.00 and a new complete carb $30.00. Also never turn that screw out MORE THAN 3 turns, if it has to be turned out more than 3 turns means the pilot jet is to small. Or the pilot jet and or it's passage are partially clogged Alleyoop  |
