I packed grease around my bearings when I assembled the axles... so far so good.

I picked up a bike for $800 brand spanking new fully assembled when I was in the Philippines at my house there. Solid bike for the money. I sure wish they would import a bike like this to the US!! It is a solid bike for the money. I took it on a 4 hour trip running wide open without incident. It is quite fast too!! I used to have a Honda XL back in the 70's and this bike really reminds me of it. I can tell you there are some pretty decent quality Chinese bikes out there... they just don't seem to import them to this country as far as I can tell... the ones we get here seem to be of inferior quality...

I'm new to the forum and I am so grateful to have found this site and thread. I recently purchased a YX127CF hoping to have a more economical ride down to the bus station. Mine came from Superior Powersports. I've taking my time working on it, not forcing anything. I used to ride a Honda Elite years ago and was looking forward to being back on a bike. I'm not a mechanic, from what I've read so far I would think I'm more like averageguy. I was installing the throttle needle when I saw this. It's the large black cylinder directly behind the fake radiator grill. It's cracked at the base of one of the pylons that secures it to the frame!?! I didn't do this. I haven't touched this item on the bike and like I said, I've been moving slowly, deliberately and forcing nothing. What part is this? I appreciate any help. The members of this board seem to be very helpful.

I don't have specific knowledge on the part you mention, but unfortunately "pre-broken" parts are not uncommon on a Chinese bike. BTW, I used to have an Elite myself back at the dawn of time. This has been a great thread to read so far. My wife bought one of these back in February, and it's been a constant headache of missing parts, and trying to wrestle with the shop in California she ordered it from. We were initially missing all the manuals and the keys. Instead of new keys, we were finally sent all new keys and locks that I had to replace. Still missing the internals for the drum brake, the mirrors, and front reflectors. Working on those. Does anyone happen to have PDF's of the actual owner manual and assembly guide? They would be much appreciated.

Anybody have luck with finding parts for these bikes? I was thinking to pick up a set of brake pads/shoes just to have around.

I don't think there really is an "owners manual" that comes with these. Kind of have to just wing it when putting it together but mostly it is pretty intuitive and can be figured out. The rear axle caused me the most headaches trying to figure out how it should go together. I have been riding mine for about a year now and so far no major problems. Mine came with some broken plastics on the headlight assembly but I just used zipties to hold it all together. Not the prettiest thing in the world but it works just fine. These bikes are GREAT for taking the motorcycle riding exam! Like riding a bicycle. I just passed today.. perfect score. I think a lot of the biker dudes there were laughing at me but when they saw me go through the course I got some high fives afterwards

Hi to everyone who is apart of this thread, my name is Rob and I live in Texas, Houston to be exact. My story is as follows.
I am just a nerdy kid who recently lost his 4 wheeled transportation, and ordered a YX127CF from the website Powersportsmax.com (http://www.powersportsmax.com/product_info.php/cPath/38_94/products_id/15041) <-- that is the direct link to the page with the bike on it.
So here is my issue....I have never worked on any form of mortar before, I was thinking that there would not be that much to put together on this small bike, however I was very much mistaken. I have managed to remove all the (cheap) plastic from the body and have also been able to figure out where the gas line and some other minor details went or go to and have done my best to put it together slowly. I am on day two now and I have managed to pretty much do nothing but take it apart.... Also I have a very small amount of tools at my disposal. Basically I am asking for someone to be a good Samaritan and help me step by step in this process. I have a number of pics available and also am willing to do this via email or phone. (832)970-5868 as I can take a pic with my phone and text it quicker then I could switching between forum and garage. I am trying to assemble the front wheel ATM, all my bolts, screws, nutz, and other parts are lined out by size and type on some cardboard so as not to lose them or confuse them. all the screws for the body panels are in a shoe box as that part is not difficult to remember or figure out.
Huge headache, yet not un-doable, just need someone with experience to lend a guiding hand..
Stressed out, N00BletRider, AKA (Rob)

Finally got it up and running! It was missing mirrors, and the ones they sent after several phone calls were for a much smaller bike with 8mm posts. I had enough and bought some 10mm generics. The shifter seems to be a bit tighter than I would have though - doesn't really return center as easily as it should. Having a problem with the speed/odometer assembly at the hub. I think the tabs on the wheel hub itself may be bent. So close..

5w isn't thin. God only knows who wrote those specs and if they knew why they did it. I don't know that I have ever even seen 5w40 oil... Who knows what the engine number means as well could be anything... 5W-40 is synthetic diesel oil...very common.

Still without any kind of manuals or assembly guide, so, can someone please tell me what purpose the cap with the coin slot on the top of the transmission hump serves? Does some kind of lubricant need to go in? If so, it may explain why the shifter is so damn stiff, and doesn't return to center without a solid toe. - Andy

Anybody have luck with finding parts for these bikes? I was thinking to pick up a set of brake pads/shoes just to have around. I too, would like to know this... I am considering purchasing one, despite the possible pitfalls, but my main concern is parts availability at this point. A google search turned up zilch! Thanks in advance!
