Ok, I'm thinking ill try a #92, also my current weights when I took them out weighed 5.6 grams, is 7grams a good starting point for this size engine now? Thinking it could be over revving.

So I ordered a #92 main jet today so hopefully that will help. I've tried tuning the carb and the a/f mixture screw is pretty dang far out so that is set real rich which I believe also confirms I need a bigger jet. Also I've noticed that when letting off the throttle I'm getting a small backfire, it's not as loud as a normal one but I can definetly hear it, what causes backfires?

Still trying to post up a picture of the spark plug, everytime I try it says web page not found, so not sure whats happening there. I am well below the max size. Still waiting for the #92 jet to come in.

Ok so called up Scrappys today to find out where my a9 is. Said they were still doing inventory on the parts but was told they would make sure to get mine out the door today, hopefully that happened. Still waiting for my #92 jet to come in, hopefully that will be the correct size, little bit confused because seems to be running lean but getting some back firing, thinking its just cause the a/f screw is almost all the way out and it's just not right cause of the wrong jet.
Where is a good place to start for picking a roller size on this setup? 7 or 8 gram?

[replyingto=ej132]ej132[/replyingto]9g sliders, equal to 8g rollers, was just a bit too heavy for me and my former setup. However, with a lighter performance variator 8g would be a great place to start. For the stock variator 5-7 should be good depending on other factors.
I'm sure you know this, but the a/f screw doesn't effect the main jet very much. It only effects up to 1/8 throttle or so. The A/F screw works with your idle jet for low speeds and idling. If your screw is all the way out then your idle jet may be too big?
Here's some info that Alleyoop gave me regarding popping sounds and rich/lean conditions.
Hope this helps some.
Good luck!

Thanks for that info, I'm just a bit confused cause it seems like my # jet seems to small, cause the engine is running very very hot and feels like I'm not getting enough fuel but the on de acceleration I'm getting this popping or back firing. I'm just a bit confused.

Ok so finally got my a9 cam today! Hopefully will get that installed in the next few days, still waiting for my #92 main jet. Maybe my cam is just a tooth off and thats my problems? But millsc you said with this head I would probably need a bigger jet than # . Thinking of putting in a #38 idle jet, cause Im having to hit the throttle most of the time to get the electric starter to work.

Well make sure you know what it is POPPING or BACKFIREING. Popping is just that it sounds like POP, BACKFIRING is like a POW POW like a gun went off.
Popping in de-cel you could have the IDLE SET TO LOW or you can fix that with the Fuel Ratio Mixture by richen it up about 1/4-1/2 turn.
Backfireing on Dec you have a AIR LEAK usually by the FLANGE that is where the pipe connects to the motor. TWO DIFFERENT sound two different remedies, also backfiring you can burn out your exhaust valve.
Also if your FUEL RATIO MIXTURE IS out over 3 turns you need the next HIGHER PILOT JET. The Pilot jet in there is to small. Now all this has nothing to do with the MAIN JET. Alleyoop
