Got my Benelli X50 2 stoke :'(running. Put a NEW 28 mm Koso carb on the bike with a manual choke. Bike will run if I have the enrichment/choke on, but dies as soon as I take the choke off. I have gone from a 45 pilot jet to a 48 pilot jet with no change. Bike will not idle with choke off! I 've adjusted the mixture screw to 1 1/2 and 2 turns out with same results. Any ideas, or what jets I need to get this bike to idle without the choke would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Got to tell you the CARB is to BIG to much air BRO. If it is a STOCK motor NO BBK You can try a 20mm the MAX size on a STOCK 2stroke. If you have a BBK MAX is a 24mm and with that you will have a heck of a time getting it to run good. Alleyoop

Many come with a 17.5mm or 19mm . A 2T powerkit with a 70cc BBK uses a 21mm carb so yes its too big . A Suzuki RM80 uses a 28mm and a scooter does not make anywhere as much power or RPMs as that can . With a 49cc engine , airbox and stock pipe it will never have enough flow to use a large carb like that . A lil bigger works compares to a stock but too big will hurt performance and tuneability

[replyingto=skuttadawg]skuttadawg[/replyingto]Thanks for the input on the 28mm KOSO carburetor! My mistake......This Benelli X50 is highly modified with an MTRT 70cc bore kit w/ceramic composite piston moly rings and aluminum cylinder. Technigas exhaust. High velocity cooling fan. Stage 6 adjustable clutch and bell, malossi belt, 3000 rpm torque spring, and clutch springs, roller torque spring seat, carbon fiber reeds, and aluminum intake manifold. Don't think the carburetor is too big as the bike runs GREAT with the enrichment circuit engaged. Just looking for ideas on the proper pilot jet size to begin with, so the bike will run without the enrichment circuit engaged. I have a set of pilot jets from Stage 6 the start at 35 and go up to 58. I've already tried the 45 and 48 jet, but same results. Have to engage enrichment system for bike to maintain idle. Anyone got an idea?? All help would be appreciated!!

There's no point in having that big carb on a small engine. A 24mm would be big enough. I don't think that the 28mm carb will produce enough vaccum to suck the fuel up properly from the bowl.
But as you like to use it, I would try the 58 main jet you have lying around and see if it gets better. And if it's OK with that, I would then step down with smaller jets until you find the right one.

that 28mm is an upgrade for 150cc scooters. not for 50cc scooters.

28mm on a 72cc 2t?...wow..overkill my 250 dirtbikes used 28mm carbs. You are sucking NOTHING but pure air...reason it dies when you cut the choke off. That would be like you sticking your head in a 12" drain pipe that many use under the driveway to keep water from flooding the ditch...and then you try to suck a Ping Pong ball through it.. ;D
