This may seem like a dumb question but I'm curious and new to scooters. I have a 2012 Jonway 250, Now first question. 1. How far can you travel on a scooter? Short trips in town only? or can you go on a road trip say 200 miles there and back? I want to visit my son but he lives aobut 70 / miles from me. 2. How many miles do scooters average before the engine or other parts are DOA? And your scooter go's to the great scooter trail in the sky! thanks!

I rode 83 miles round trip, with a short stop at the turn around point. I have a 2 gallon tank and on that trip averaged 62mpg. My tailbone was sore.

I sold an old Tank Urban Sporty 50...with 12,800 miles on it...guy still rides it and it now has 18,000 + on it. We ride our 50cc scoots as far as Grand Rapids and Muskegon Michigan(well over a 100 mile round trip) We visit my mom and sister almost weekly... mile round trip. 2 years ago..Firecrackers were illegal in Michigan..I road to the Indiana border to buy some. That is a tad over 100 miles round trip..it's like 106 or close to it. 'In town only' is just a stigma or paradigm folks are caught in. Being as you have a 250 scoot..it is no different than a 250 motorcycle....right?...

It is a matter of your endurance, not the scooters. I went on several 150 to 300 mile day trips on my 250 cc scooter.

i once did 160 mile round trip with my 50cc bbk 80cc scoot . and i figured i need bigger cc for doing long distance trips like at least 125cc because i could only go 40 mi/h at full throttle and cars always stack behind me. other than that i could go long distance trip no problem

I ride 44 miles to/from work a day On the second day I stop at the gas station and fill up 1.5 gal right before I get home. I'd say 100+ miles on my 1.6 gal tank

I've done 200+ miles on a 50cc scooter in one trip.
Theoretically you could go 6-8k miles with it the least before it needs maintenance. It does not really matter if you are going to do this in one trip (with oil changes), or in many small trips.
I personally would say that a roketa 250 is perfect for going around town, doing the 20-60 minute trips, even 20 minutes on the highway.

howdy, a 250 is not limited for the most part except long uphills with heavy loads will pull it down probably below 50 mph. maintain it and go. jim and wife made several trips on their rv250 scoots a couple thousand miles round trip. do have resources though to have it brought back to your mechanic if necessary when on long trips like overnighters. i'm planning a trip the first of july over 400 miles each way so i'm not afraid to go. i took a 170 mile rounder on monday. one tank of fuel and 62mpg.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

1. How far can you travel on a scooter? ... I am retired, having fun. Sold my dead Savage, bought a new LX150 last October, have about 3,000 miles on it already. I am having fun playing TAG on Modern Vespa. One day did considerably more than 100 miles from Gardena CA to Dana Point: modernvespa.com/forum/topic14936.18 Piece of Piroshky. It is start getting warm, it has been six year since the last Full Moon Madness ride: www.dslretorts.com/Paladin/archives/002372.html I am planning on ride under the Full Moon, next is May 25. Plan on leaving the house about 9 pm, should back home about 6-7am. Check back on me in a month and ask me how I do on a 380 mile overnight jaunt. If it works. in two weeks later I'll ride to Seattle to see my Sister. Scooters are not the problem -- people are.

I rode 843 miles in the summer 2011 on the Natchez Trace in 6 days. Two of those days were spent watching it rain. Longest days ride was 265 I think. The bike is 150 cc Chinese gy6. It now has 5500 miles on it and running great.Hoping to do it again this summer, anyone care to ride along? Tim
