A car the belt can last for years driving the accessories . I wonder if it is the stretching like when the weights push it outwards make it wear out faster A car's V-belt carrying a lighter load through a smaller, more flexible belt = less heat. An automobile serpentine belt is just a series of tiny V-belts placed side-by-side, allowing the same friction purchase area in a much thinner (but wider), more flexible belt - running even cooler and lasting longer still.

Wow 140k miles !!! I know! I didn't believe it at first, but he swore it was true. I've heard of numerous other Harley's going 60-80,000+ mi. as well.

These dinky little belts just cannot stand up to WOT from every stop light, stop sign. Also the GY6 is a 150cc engine and not a 750cc Kawai. Pushing 22k on a 2006 GY6 and am on the 3rd belt, 3rd set of disk pads. Upgrade on main jet, exhaust, rollers and air filter. Have been here waay before it came to It Is The Ride and other than the usual maintenance has never let me down. At this point I am just curious to see how many chinos I can get out of the engine, but guessing other stuff will fall apart first. JMHO from one of the OLD guys.

Sorry to read about it Teddy as your a good guy who has helped so many here including myself . I am grateful your shared this as it may prevent others from having it happen to them . I try to replace worn parts before the last minute like maypop tires . When my Echarm had 12,000 miles the belt only had a lil wear on the edges but two sets of 2 teeth were gone and almost no dust or residue .
Was your belt a Kevlar type ? Any idea what the average BBK 2T belt life is ? I am guessing and asking your opinion if the 2K springs shortened the belt life by having extra heat . I think Brent has some threads where he cut a slim quarter moon looking slit around the round edge for more cooling .
My 2T belt looked great as far as no real wear indication lile exposed threads or missing teeth but it has felt like it slipped a lil bit and started to make a sound like its binding and stall the engine so I parked it to be safe
I rode my Honda Spree for almost 2 years with thousands of miles and only put in gas and oil . I have no idea if it even had a belt as I thought it was shaft driven . I had taken aparts engibes since I was a pup but never a CVT . My pedal mopeds were chain driven with the Tomos having a 2 speed like a Powerglide sorta .
Hope you get to ride it soon

Just remember that Kevlar belts are more likely to groove out drive faces leading to other problems. When the drive faces get grooved you get damaging harmonics and things start to happen such as screws spinning loose, mufflers cracking and bearing failures.
Did I see things correctly? It looked like there was an bearing on the outside end of the clutch that engaged in the CVT cover. Usually don't see that on a GY6. Piaggio/Vespa/Aprilia have that feature which helps promote long life of the gear box and clutch.
