???So most of you know about my New Old Jonway, some of you may not.( 2011 year) Thought I was getting a new 2012 or 2013 scoot. NOT! It starts great when the engine is cold (Morning) But after it warms up it won't start unless I give it a tad bit of throttle. A/F mixture screw is capped off also. Power Ride Outlet,s mechanic said they would send me a new carb. if I pay 10.00 bucks for shipping. Is it possible to drill out the plug where the A/F screw is? I believe I can drill it out with out taking off the carb.,being it looks easy to get too. Any suggestions on my carb. problem,or maybe it's not the carb.?? I've got a few other problems, but I'll get to those later. I may have a lemon!

[replyingto=burnrubber]burnrubber[/replyingto]Does sound like your A/F screw is lean..and possibly your main jet jet too. But first off...is it a 2 stroke or 4 stroke?...then we can go from there. A 2 stroke A/f screw works slightly different than a 4 stroke one does..

Mine idles good, just was talking about having to give it a squirt of gas as you say, just wondering if it was normal to give it some gas on warm start up?? Don't know what idle jet it has yet, just bought new Friday

If this is a SLIDER type carb which most 2ts come with it has a AIR RATIO SCREW and NOT a FUEL RATIO SCREW on the right by the AIR FILTER SIDE. On these type of carbs you adjust by LESS OR MORE AIR. To LEAN IT you turn the screw COUNTER CLOCKWISE(ALLOW more air) To RICHEN IT you turn the screw CLOCKWISE(CUT off some air).
On these types of carbs on adjust by turning them 1/8 at a time they are very finicky. Alleyoop

Not sure what your issue is.
Is your complaint that you need to crack the throttle to start it?
Thats totally normal.
You certainly don't need a new carburetor.
If you want to rich it up you can drop the clip on your throttle needle.
Might not be a bad idea.
Not sure why it matters if its a 2011 or 2012. They are basically the same bike going back to 2006 or so. Its not like cars where there are changes/improvements made from model year to model year.
Don't go looking for problems where there aren't any.
Your bike is fine.

2T are cold natured and need to be warmed up prior to riding and will run better once warmed up from riding . I only turn the throttle maybe a 1/16 of a turn a time or two and let it idle
