Chinese workforce is a lot cheaper than US workforce, why on earth do you want a job back to the US if you can't afford to buy anything because everything will be US made and too expensive for the average Joe factory worker?. The golden years of the 50s where a factory worker could buy a house, a brand new car and raise 3 children are not coming back, not because "they took 'er jebs", but because we as human population got more griddy and overpopulation. According to some of the comments here, some of you guys need to turn off Fox news, get a passport and go out and meet the world outside your borders, you will be surprised that the world is not what you thought it was, and you have a lot to learn. Amen ricky..

Funny all the comments concerning Harley. Harley lobbied for a tariff in the mid 80's against 750cc and up foreign motorcycles. Harley got a market boost that they claimed they needed to avoid going out of business. Foreign 750's became 700's to get under the tariff. Honda built a huge plant in Ohio to make Goldwings and some others I think. They didn't have to pay tariffs on US built. After some years the tariff expired and most involved considered it a success. Don't seem so bad.

I remember those golden years extending into the early 1970s, PistonGuy. High school educated fellows from the north with good union jobs could afford a house, a family, and really nice vacations. Growing up in Georgia, we saw them passing thru on their way to and from Florida. We were jealous, of course.

OMG yes, I grew up 30 mile east of Cleveland and back in the day most didn't even need high school education. had a family member or bud hook you up with a union job and you were off. Ill tell ya tho on Some of that competition one of my closest friends worked for Republic Steele, his father got him in, after some time he told of these shanties some of guys built, I was like huh? he told me they got on hook up on overtime, time and a half and double time and there were able to pull off building these heated shanties with tv's, microwaves, coffee makers on property and go sit in them and pull massive amounts of overtime, Hmm maybe had something to do with they weren't able to compete due to there cost. then the 80's came and as i was turning wrenches and selling equipment 60+ hours a week straight time he was making double what I was at home on unemployment, just when the unemployment would run out the union would bring him back in just long enough to make him eligible again for extended benefits , then once again laid off until just before the benefits would expire and repeat. That went on for years and was able to make a very comfortable living that way. was hard not to get jealous of that at my younger age.

Honda built Wings in Ohio from the 1980 GL1100 until 2010, when Honda retooled the plant (opened in 1979) to make suspension parts for SUVs. 2012 and newer are built in Kikuchi, Japan. (There was no 2011 model.) I recall that ALL imported bikes got hit with a tariff for 1984. (Hence my dream bike being a one-year-only model.)

Jarlaxle clearly said ILLEGAL. Enough with all the PC BS, Native American's are aliens like everyone else. As far as the native part goes, I'm not a American Indian but I am a native, I got me a legitimate birth certificate to prove it.

Yea well it wasn't really necessary for me to go shooting off my mouth considering some criticism of the earlier comment was probably justified. Just burns my when someone misconstrues someone else's words, especially for politics. I consider myself a moderate an am getting tired of the left wingnuts and the right wingnuts babbling on as if they speak for the country. My political patience tank is about empty.

I thought the Genuine Stellas were made in India? I think they were, and may still be... It's the "Chicago Scooter Co." brand sold under the Genuine/Buddy name that's Chinese, and has a very good rep. leo, I think you got mixed up here. Genuine Scooter Co. Makes the Buddy and is made in Taiwan. I have a GS Roughhouse Sport. After 2 years of riding everyday i have yet put a wrench on it (other then a spark plug. Its a 2T). If you see one up front you will know its not from China. Chicago Scooter Co. might be there sister Co. and do look more like the china scooters but a bit better made. PGO Scooters/ Motive Power Industry for some clarification. Cycle WorldAnd This link motorcycle.com

larrball, I am not up on the new offerings... Just noticing new scoots at my dealer and saw the "Chicago Scooter Co." rides. I asked the dealer about them and he said they are a new brand, made in China and sold under the Genuine/Buddy brand... The ones on his floor did have "Genuine" badging.I looked up "Chicago Scooter Genuine Buddy" on the net, and found the homepage. I cut and pasted this quote... "Chicago Scooter Company is the new company from the people at Scooterworks (Buddy, Genuine, Stella). These bikes feature the reliability and dealer support that Genuine has always been known for. They come with a one year warranty."I've always thought Genuine/Buddy scoots were made in Taiwan. They are sweet little rides! Sounds like lots of interrelated holding companies involved here. I'm not sure anymore if you can actually be sure just WHERE bikes and components are really made... LOL!

No real way to tell for about 10 Years or so Leo ,,,if you took all the Japanese and Chinese parts out of any car or bike manufactured in the world it wouldn't run let alone start,,,so much for made in the USA or any country for that matter
