I just bought 2 motofino 49cc scoots and a old Honda Spree for $400. They have all been sitting since 2008. The motofinos both have around a 1000 kilometers on them. What would be a list of most dos to start with when bringing a scoot back to life.

1- Replace the battery 2- Do an oil change (engine and cvt); eventhough oil may be relatively new, the agents and additives may be expired. 3- Dump old fuel (if any residue left), and run a carb cleaner in your (new) fuel
That should be just about it!

Congratulations! As a junkyard bike restorer/rider, I can add: check your rubber parts for dry rot, replace any cracked rubber. Change the brake fluid to remove accumulated moisture in the fluid. You may also need to clean the carb jets and change the battery as well.

Sweet deal as the Honda is worth that alone . I would do all that has been mentioned plus replace the fuel lines and pour in some Seafoaom after draining out the gas in tank and in the carb bowl . The Elite should have the 2T oil replaced to .

Check for rust in the gas tanks. That seems to be a problem on engines I've resurrected that have sat for years. Rusted gas tanks are nothing but trouble down the road. Mice like to make nests in anything that has a hiding place and doesn't move. ( wires nearby are chew toys for rodents...)

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm looking at getting deep into them this week. I did the monfinos to run for a a little by just putting in a fresh battery and clean fuel. The blue one ran long enough for me to take it down the street and its a torque monster. It topped out at 33 but it got their extremely fast. The blue/purple one started up and ran in the drive way but I couldn't get it running good enough to put on the road. I have not touched the Honda Spree yet because its the only one without a title. it was put into the package deal so it was pretty much free. I will be doing a deep clean on the whole fuel system and new plugs this week. I really hate pulling out the tanks but its a must do it looks like. I will update as the week goes on. On a side note: the neighbor ask me how many scooters I needed since I have five in the driveway now. LOL. My reply was not enough! Again thanks for the replies. I'm sure I will be asking for help during the week.

Got the spree running. All I did was put it fresh gas and jumped it off. It just needs a battery and the back tire aired up. Only one without a title and its running like a champ. Just my luck. I guess I will research and see if I can get a title some how or sell it to someone that lives in a state that doesn't require tags for scoots.

Consider contacting ITS ( international title service ) on the Spree, might be worth the expense.
