that guy has no idea what hes talking about sweetie. why would they make and sell a scooter with a cooling fan that wasnt sufficent for the engine?
we need more info to diagnose. a long ride of an hour doesnt tell us how fast you were riding for how long. vacuum petcocks sometimes close at wide open throttle from lack of vacuum, causing fuel starvation that leads to running lean (and hot) but we dont know if thats your problem.... but i can tell you its not because "150's dont get enough air"

and again, my fuel filter is going downhill, fuel gets thru it just fine, routing is not the problem.

petcock is not bad. i can suck on vac and it will flow strong and fast like i already said. it will also flow thru the lines no problem, until i hook the lines back to the carb. then it will flow... until it fills the bowl and the lower fuel line up to the bottom of the fuel filter and a little into it, then it basically stops flowing.
if i open the bowl drain, the needle opens and then if i apply vacuum it will flow all the way thru, and out onto the ground. once i close the bowl drain, it will again fill... till it gets to the bottom of the fuel filter again and then stops again.
i can suck and blow on the vac line and work the diaphram like a fuel pump, and it will force fuel into the filter and fill it up, but my 45mph riding will still drain it pretty quick
ive talked to a few old bike people, and they all agree im having physics issues.
my next move it to go to all clear fuel lines to watch exactly whats going on, try my vacuum T idea, and if i cant figure it out then im going to put a brass fitting on the tank, and put an in line cut off, and FABRICATE an extension arm for the cutoff valve. id rather not do it this way, but id rather not run my bike lean again....

looks like its part of your crank case ventilation, and i would hope that its just oil.
my elite has a clear hose that comes from the oil/vapor seperator to under the scoot, with a plug in the end. any oil blowing into the separator will drain back into this hose and needs draining every so often. thats what this most likely is. are you sure its not oil? if its not oil or gas, what else could it even be?

just put the 150 on your scoot look for a 2 stroke 50, many of them have top mounts like the 150. might not be exact, but closer than a 4 stroke 50 frame.

i had one of these for a short time. never got to ride it, but it had great compression.
there are actually lots of parts to make these go faster. the yamaha PW50 has the same motor, only it has gears. it also has a higher geared rear end. PW50 racers actually swap the moped rear end in for off the line power, so you can go the other way on the moped for top end speed. mine had boyensen reeds and a new top end. all that stuff can be found on ebay. dont mess with the exhaust unless you rejet the carb, you will lose power even drilling an extra hole in the exhaust (according to PO and the welded hole in the stock muffler) and of course dont run too much without a filter.
personally id try to find a pw50 or even yt60 engine because it has semi auto gears. it would make a really neat mini cafe racer IMO and thats what i had planned on doing with mine. sadly someone had stretched it 4 inches to make it comfortable to ride (my knees would have been in the handlebars and im only 5 10) and had failed to line the wheels up straight. I sold it as it was to a younger kid who wanted a project.
personally if the motor wasnt any good id just swap some larger motor on to it and not even worry about keeping it a yamaha unless you just like original. one pitfall of a swap is it being shaft drive, you must choose a swap that either has a rear wheel integrated like a moped, or build a swingarm and do a sprocket.
ive noticed that many 2 stroke 50cc mopeds have top engine mounts, as well as 150ccs. i would imagine a 150cc swap on one of these would be pretty sick. a 4 stroke 50 wouldnt be hard either but im an overkill kind of guy.

I would have to go with a rebel. if its not exactly how you want seat wise, you should have plenty of cash leftover to modify it to your tastes since most 250s run in the sub 2k range. seems it doesnt matter the year, 86 or 96 or 06, rebels seem to be worth 1-2k depending on visual condition

well since you have never had that problem then it most certainly couldnt be the issue could it? im sure that as an experienced mechanic, i didnt already route the lines to create the shortest downward route. probably didnt already check that before i came up with this more complex solution.
im not the first person to have a fuel cutoff problem at WOT with a vacuum petcock, ive read about it on scoot forums before, and experienced it myself on more than one scoot. perhaps the scoot you were riding didnt drain all the fuel before you throttled down, or there was still vacuum from your slide being partially closed so you were still getting fuel. i dont know what your case was, but it doesnt really make much difference here.
im sorry to sound like a jerk, but its already been suggested and proven not to be the case in this thread so im not sure why you are offering it as the likely solution...
