they feel smooth maybe a little bump every revolution any "bump" is not good! clean them good with WD-40 and try again. If it has a bump replace it.

I was just thinking, Since I have the original motor in the scooter and the build on the bench, I'm going to run a compression test on the running motor and compare the numbers to the other motor with each the hoca, and the BBK supplied piston . That should tell a lot

I bought the hoca so I could have a choice. Here's the way i'm looking at it- The original 37 mm piston from the qmb 139 has quite a dome on it.(convex) The piston that comes with the BBK is dished.(concave) This would suggest to me that the engine was designed to run best with a domed piston, and the hoca, is the better piston for the job. I am going to try it. I'll dry fit and check clearances first, and adjust as necessary. If i don't like it, i can stow it for the future builds, and put back the 50mm dished piston with new rings and wrist pin. ;D

I love to help people whenever I can, no matter what the problem is. However, as I said before, It depends on time, city ,neighborhood,Etc.Nowadays you have to be very careful. If something don't look or feel right, chances are good it aint! And appearances are "out the window too" as More and more people are marking themselves up with tatoos! Used to be only sailors, marines, hardcore 's angels type bikers, convicts, gang members and tough guys. now it's dam near everybody! nice guys and gals too. so you have to use your own judgement. and be very careful.

I've ben thinking about that very same thing, noise vs mods. I have the same type exhaust as leo.( mine is not modified. I looked all over for a performance muffler with an expansion chamber and a bigger header pipe, and it looks like they don't make em! technigas and a couple of others i think naraku has them, but when I asked about the header diameter, they saic oh around.700 or .7 something. .750 being 3/4", i cant see spending 200.00 cause mine is already the same. I guess the only way to improve it is to do what leo did. Maybe we could make 2t exhaust systems with 1" header pipes. for 50cc 4 strokes and get rich! LOL. Meantime ,if you can find an exhaust with an expansion chamber, get it they perform better, and they are quiet.

just check the bearings thats about the most common thing to fail

no other symptoms, justsmoke... no loss of power? ???and like scootnwinn says, better get a set of rings, theyre not too expensive.

yup sounds familiar... I just discovered the same thing, I froze the 2nd ring into the piston groove. soft seize-lean mixture. I ordered a new set of rings, and also a new piston with rings

Yeah clearance and compression are exactly my concerns. The cylinder walls look great. Thats why I didn't think there was any damage. Something told me though to remove the piston, and there it was. 1st ring ok though go figure. wrist pin turned blue too. I don't trust it anymore.Anyway, I got a set of rings for it if the hoca don't work out

I didn't think I did any damage when the engine with the bbk soft seized, but on closer examination, I did.The 2nd ring froze to the piston in the groove. The bbk came from scrappydog, but they won't sell the piston alone. I got the ring out and cleaned out the grooves, and ordered a new set of rings. I also bought a 50mm hoca piston set from partsfor scooters, that piston looks domed. Does anyone think this will be a problem? The jug and head are scrappys, and piston from pfs

Depends on the time, the city, the neighborhood, and the circumstances. I've seen some shady characters on scooters- and some IDIOTS too--weaving in and out of traffic, cutting off cars and even city buses! If I saw one of those get in trouble, NO!

[replyingto=jeepsteve92xj]jeepsteve92xj[/replyingto]Did you ever get any temp. readings on the cylinder? I'm curious to know just where the threshold of heat is before it gets dangerous. I picked up a thermometer with a probe. It's good to 480 degrees F I'm thinking of mounting it and sticking the probe to the cyl. Whats a normal temp for you?

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]Ok I beleive that one goes to a little can anyway. the one i'm most concerned with is the one from the valve in the exhaust. I guess it's some kind of egr or something to do with emissions. the other comes from the gearbox vent. You also leave the carb spacer out right? just use the gasket or what?

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto] I'll try it since i already have a box of different size jets Now what about all the vent hoses that go to the airbox? I got 3 of em
