I had a thought last night. It's unconventional, but i'll bounce it around anyway. My original carb runs great in the stock 50 cc. Plug has a beautiful color, power is there, couldnt ask for better. I built a new motor with a 50mm BBK, a9 cam variator, sliders, clutch springs and gears. Why wont the original carb do the same fuel/air mix in the bigger cylinder? It's based on the venturi-air flowing through it vs the jet right? I have an exhaust with an expansion chamber, and I'm keeping the stock airbox, so the fuel/air ratio should stay the same, just a bigger volume right? Im just gulping more of it in the 83cc vs the 49. any thoughts? BTW, I did buy a 20mm carb, and a full jet assortment, but why mess with all that?I'm keeping the same exhaust, I don't want a loud one, unless i mess with the airbox, the ratio should stay the same Technigas sells my same exhaust for $200.00. it's a 2 stroke type, but for a 4 stroke.all opinions welcome

I had the 20mm and had nothing but problems with it I went back to the 19mm with a jet and it runs great i didnt see a differance in the throat size they looked exactly the same and the 20mm I bought from scrappy and was about 60 bucks the 19mm I bought from chinesepartswholesale.com for 19 bucks

Stock carb should work just fine if properly jetted and tuned

yeah, thats what i was thinking. I,m going to try it first. If i'm not happy with the results, than i may upjet, and drill some holes in the airbox.Thanks. I don't care for the quality of the 20mm anyway.( no guide on the diaphragm spring)

From my many 100cc kits I have installed they all run better without the airbox and open air filter you could get similiar results drilling holes in the airbox but why bother when you can get a filter for cheap 5 to 20 bucks and upjet. I have around 20 airboxes in my shed

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]I ran that thought through my mind several times too. When you put one of those on does it increase the noise level? What i'm after here is around 40 MPH without wot all the time, maybe 45-50 top end, decent hillclimbing and fairly quiet. Do you think thats feasable with my setup?

The filter does increase the noise slightly but it will yield gains I say get the filter and a 92 jet

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto] I'll try it since i already have a box of different size jets Now what about all the vent hoses that go to the airbox? I got 3 of em

i tuck them under the scoot, don't bind the hose from the valve cover leave it open and unbinded

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]Ok I beleive that one goes to a little can anyway. the one i'm most concerned with is the one from the valve in the exhaust. I guess it's some kind of egr or something to do with emissions. the other comes from the gearbox vent. You also leave the carb spacer out right? just use the gasket or what?

Run the manifold directly on the head no spacer I don't even use the gasket
