Well I'll be Struck down, George! Looks like you just may have been right all along. Metal fragments in that engine compartment could only have come from a few places, since there is no "pass through" to any other compartment. I suppose it COULD be the oil pump ... but Las Vegas oddsmakers now have you -to-1 as being correct. BRAVO! Lol, I'm hoping its the starter clutch, and to be honest , not because I've been saying this all along , but just because the prob will be fixed. Also I completely understand the doubt since not many have had this prob before " at least from what I know " after having issues with 2 different starter clutches , i had a hard time looking the other way, lol. However I still may be wrong .

When my ncy starter clutch went bad , it was obvious, but when my stock starter clutch went , it was not so obvious. If you don't have any noticeable damage to the started clutch , you'll be in a position where it will prob be better to just buy a new one , since they are cheap and you already have the side cover open. Also at this point what are your other options ? It still may be bad , even if you see no damage . there can be something broke inside the clutch.
If you can take a pic of the side of the gear where it goes into the starter clutch . that way we can see signs of slippage.

Ok I see, now at this point do I actually need to take that special nut off or just the gear? I'll post pictures in a few hours You can just remove the gear for now .

You may have to turn the gear to the left while pulling it out.

The big gear in the center is the starter clutch gear. If you grab it , it pulls right off. Behind it is the starter clutch.

You need to pull the gear from the clutch. It pulls straight out.

Nope. No snow. In fact, it's 89 degrees right now with powder blue skies. Lot of good it does me though. Rotator cuff surgery 4 days ago; arm in a sling for a month. Difficult to ride (and illegal, but who is counting that ...) with a sling on. You and your perfect weather !! , jersey boy prob got hit with some snow. Hope u heal up soon rcq.

Getting this thing dialed in. Running 12gr Dr. Pepper sliders with the ultra low ratio gear set and GEH's full-NCY clutch. If the engine is punched it will climb into the mid 7K range (~7,500 or so) .... but at 1/3 or so throttle it cruises along nicely at 55-60mph, the tach at 6,500 to 7K. For me, that is just about where i want things. Thats exactly how mine runs but less than half the price..lol..glad your getting it tuned in there,,ready for Spring!!! Did u guys get the snow a couple weeks ago ?

I've looked at Scrappy Dog and ebay. I can find complete air filter box assy with that hose but not the hose separately. How much would changing to a small air filter effect performance? Will it require carb rejetting? There is a chance you will need to upjet, but without a HP exhaust , it won't be much at all. Also I would check on eBay and see if you can find the hose. D martin at " www.dansgaragetalk.com " will prob be able to help u out if u can't find it.

On my Gator scooter the air filter box has been broken and repaired and the hose that attaches to the carb is cracked. Is this hose/elbow available seperate or do i need a whole air filter box? Is there another air filter alternative? Also the accelerator pump doesn't give much of a squirt. You can usually buy the box and hose separate from each other. Or just buy a uni filter and go to a hardware store for a hose and or plastic elbow.

The main will be around a 106-108 and the pilot will be around a 35. Inbelive your 43 pilot was too big . the pilot is in play through out most of the throttle range so a 43 in my opinion is way too big. I would like to see a 106 main for your setup , with the 35 pilot. Even a slightly smaller main may be better but I would def just throw it in and see how she performs.
