I would say the Blast has good power but it was not designed for top speed. It was designed as a beginners bike. The smooth power from that big single makes it easy for new riders to learn how to use the manual clutch. The 250cc Ninja is faster, but the high rpm engine makes it more difficult to master the use of the manual clutch. Nobody wants to stall their bike while pulling away from a traffic light. I've road dirt bikes before , and the buell blast is much easier to get into first without stalling. Actually I haven't stalled it yet . I did almost lay it down in my yard. I was heading out onto the road from my yard and the grass was wet . the rear wheel almost kicked out from under me .

I actually like how it feels at low end . its funny , I never use to strap my helmet down when I road the scoot , I'd just button it up without tightening it down . I had to strap it on when riding the buell, it felt as if my helmet was going to fly off my head after 2nd gear.

They make a 515 drop in bbk for the buell blast , that gives it much more power. I hear it doubles the horse power .

How do you get Anything (not Chinese) for $700 Good Haul! The guy I got it off of owns a pretty successful car lot in Greene county pa. The bike was in his garage at his house . I was doing some work on the garage and asked him about it. He got it on a trade in and he said it was selling it for cheap. The buell blast is not a very expensive bike " about $5000 new. With a few small scrapes and it setting for a few years , he was not sure what it needed to get it running. If it was in perfect running condition it would maybe bring $1700 , and don't forget about the few scrapes and broken left rear turn signal . so he figured he would just get rid of it for the trade in price.

Uhh...a Blast has VERY little power! For a 500cc , yes it is not as strong at top end as it should be. It has great low end torque. Its enough power to run a little over 90mph . they are a low rpm bike. It redlines around. 6000 or so rpms. So its mainly a cruiser.

I believe Buell is now owned by Harley Davidson, Discontinued/ revamped then dropped for some odd reason..... ( I could be VERY wrong) That is one sweet ride my friend!!!!!!! Replacement parts maybe an issue or, at least Harley priced so, take care of her!!!!! The $700 price point is most excellent--- Great Deal for a VERY Sexy ride!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK and Ride SAFE!!!!!!!!! Harley does own buell , but the Buell Blast was discontinued in 2010. So 2009 was the last year. Thanks, she is a little rough running right now . it sat for awhile and had bad gas in it. It also needs a new intake boot" from the carb to the manifold. THey are known for going bad on these bikes.

I'm going to swap the handlebars for a lower set. Nothing crazy , just a little lower . it will make it look a little sportier at the front.

If you grab the wheel and rapidly move it back and forth, you'll hear a thud every direction change. There's a bit of play. Any other "thuds" aren't normal. That is 100% correct . that's what I was talking about. The wheel has play either way before the gears seem to catch " not sure why" but yes , the will will thud as the gears catch " or whatever is going on" as you spin the wheel back and fourth. This seems to be somewhat normal.
