Actually it is set in MPH with KPH indent ... the speedo reads well past 70 MPH in the non service area with no reading just before it starts at 10 MPH again. Either way KPH or MPH this is wrong .. not so concerned about the odometer as I intend to ride it till it is retired as scrap.

Here is my scoot. When I ride the speedo shoots up past 70 mph in like 8 seconds. Also the odometer reads fast like I am speeding. Is there an adjustment needed or do I need to replace my speedo gear? :: If this is posted multiple times it is the server having problems not my end as I kept doing as told reposting until I got confirmation it posted. :: Attachments:

O.K. back in the saddle finally. Got rid of the cursed scooter, found it had a cracked piston. Now sporting a 2012 Sunny 150 by dongfang. Runs great and smooth but typical cheap few parts broken on it needing fixed. Was purchased originally from scooter depot so no faith in them helping fix it. The mirrors are junk, turn signal flasher already dead and the speedometer gear in the wheel is wrong. It will go from 0 - 70+ in 3 seconds and I drive 100 miles before I know it. Scooter depot has problems trying to send just a correct gear. Engine runs strong and tight, probably does hit at least 55 mph but will know for sure when I fix the gear. Will get a pic on here soon as I get a new SD card for my camera. Anyone with any knowledge of these scooters shoot me a line here. color is the deep blue on charcoal grey very nice. reality has at most 200 miles but since the gear is wrong it is reading 650 miles. Am changing to a nicer looking cluster with a tach soon as well so don't care what this one says for now.

OK here is a new twist to the scoot. I can get it to fire and run as long as I hold the start button but as soon as I release it ... poof it dies. Lots of white smoke spouting from the valve cover return hose yet nothing at all but little pops from the tailpipe. It does blow my hand off with force pressure so not clogged but no smoke or exhaust there. Another question added too ... back in 87 my scooter had no kill switch, just a key to turn on and off. This scooter has no kill switch either just a key and the yellow start button. Is there another kill type switch somewhere I am overlooking?

Well tell them if you get charged for music too loud then every Harley on the road needs a ticket as it is 4 times louder by decibles than any radio you can build. No exception to the loudness laws anywhere.

Had the exact same thing happen to me with a 1974 VW Camper van I had. The VIN claimed by the DMV was registered to a 1996 Chevy Cavalier in sunny CA. Well I have seen the VIN plate on both mine and on a cavalier and there is NO similar anything. I was totally screwed when proving this via photos and a legit title for the VW.

Avoid this place at all costs. They way overcharge for services by the day, and you will at least be 1 week there. Take plenty of photos of arriving there with your scooter as well as somewhere secret on it mark it somehow as they have stolen 3 scooters in the last year by saying "You never brought your scooter in here for us to work on" I went to order a chinese ignition set for mine and it took 3 weeks and cost me $80. Their mechanics shop says it will only hire Kymco certified mechanics. Well I emailed and even called Kymco USA and they told me with a laugh that there is NO Kymco certification jst a basic cycle mechanic is fine by them. They also sell those $599 chinese 49cc scooters there marked up to $999 with anywhere from 100-300 miles already on them saying it is required for them to break in all scooters they sell. This shop is in Gainesville, Jacksonville (Orange Park area), St Augustine, and daytona ... same owners so avoid at all costs unless getting taken advantage of is ok with you.

St Augustine, oldest city in the US and infested with all types of scooters from name brand, chinese, italian, trikes, coupes, home made things. Sadly here, on craigslist if you look at least 60% of for sale scooters are NO TITLE jobs still wanting upwards of $500-900. In Florida you HAVE to title and register them, and if the owner "sold it to you with bill of sale and moved back to New Jersey" well ... owner will HAVE to come back with proof of identity for replacement title to sign over to you as the DMV will not do this over phone. I already had to scrap out 3 scooters because of this.

I bought a 1987 Honda Elite 150 Deluxe scooter new back in the day (just at $1,000) and it always got upwards of 65 MPH with the digital dash readout and a ride by test with a high school friend. Miss those days when the good scooters were cheap and no endorsement needed, heck a learners permit driver license was all you needed back then for any scooter.

Hello, I just bought a scooter that has been sitting a year. Was new in 2010 and on the odometer it already has 7K miles. Personal scooter not retired rental but was told it was parked when a friend put 2 stroke gas oil mix in it and it died. I have pulled the carb and cleaned it, all vaccum lines replaced, new plug. It will not start. It tries, fires over but will not run on its own power. Already adjusted valves on it. Even straight shot of starter fluid without a carb attached and nothing just a little sputter then nothing. Off name brand scooter in the 50cc range. Anything I am missing here or did I just buy a parts bike being it still looks very new.
