So I just got the scooter. 50cc taotaio. Had seemed great and scooter ran well. Had brand new carb and was tuned up. I stopped for 4 minutes down the road at a starbucks for about an hours and 30 mins. Went back to start my scooter. It would barely turn over.. The engine would not start and battery soon after died completely... It WASN'T CHARGING.. I luckily always carry a charger with me. So I just went into starbucks and charged the battery inside. Went out and started it up. All started well, So did headlight. I tried putting a leftover voltage regulator inside The scooter. TURNS OUT IT WAS BAD. So it ended up blowing my headlight and I had to ride home without a headlight... I ended up getting home and here I am now.
Paid 350 for the scooter after trade in. Not happy with what I got. There was no warranty or refunds on used scooters but this is reticules. This was not a used scooter but a broken scooter. One that did not work properly. One that would not run 4 minutes after being bought.
I am a bit upset. Is there anything I can do?. I paid with credit card. If I cannot get my money back Can I make a chargeback?. And if not What is the best way to guarantee a chargeback?. I heard opening a unauthorized claim would guarantee ones often but am not sure why.
On a side note what would the issue be. Is it not the stater because it's getting spark. It's got to be the voltage regulator correct?... Or maybe not?.
Any advice would help. Thanks!!.

It's still riding but when the back wheel is spinning you can hear a sound like a the wine of an electric motor accelerating and the wheel spins somewhat rouph, not smoothly, if anything it improved engine breaking but probably is hurting my gas millage.. The Electric starter is not stuck. It's just the back wheel. as I turned the bike off and spun the wheel on the service stand.
I have no Idea what's going on or if it's even saf to ride. I thought it might have been the ball bearing becoming damaged or is it something els?. Also if so do I even have to worry about fixing it?. Will it mean Just worse gas mileage or will the problem get worse, possibly the wheel breaking off or seizing.?
Anyway this is a 150 V.I.P. 8000 Km. Have had problem after problem. Bump wasnt that big at all and only at 35 mph.

I just cut the wire for the light undernith my Rpm spedometer and connected directly to my Light. (Left gas gauge and spedometer light alone. Now the light comes on when I turn the key when the engines not running. Suprisingly it's about 5 times brighter than it was connected the old way and the problem is gone. I did however loose control over the lights brightness But i always drive on the highest brightness anyway.

I am stuck inside tonight because my headlight gets really dim when I am traveling at High RPM and strangely when I pull the break lever it gets bright again. This happens when the breaklight comes on. What's going on?. How do I fix. Thanks.

It is being muffled some what because the pipe is alot than the hole at the base. It's not as loud as running no pipe. it's bearable but I was woried that this would cause my engine to run to lean and burn up my engines?. Is this anything to worry about on this engine?. Thanks. i am in desprate need for some good knowledgeable help.

I thought it might be worth a shot. The one that is meant for it does not seem to be charging the battery. Thanks.

I thought of somthing els. When the scooter mechanic removed my flywheel to replace the stator he used a tool that kinda like banged the flywheel from the back knocking it off... Could this have demagnetized the flywheel causing this problem?. Thanks.

I don't know how to isolate a short. How do I do that? .
What I was trying to figure out was if this type of short could POSSIBLY cause this sort of problem with the regulator not charging the scooter or is that impossible?.
Also I was wondering How exactly does the regulator power the headlight and maybe there is a short there?. There is one wire that gives power to the regulators and one wire that goes back from the regulator to the battery but what do the other 2 wires do and where does the headlight fit in?.
Is there anyway I could just cut the wire going to the headlight and just leave 3 wires plugged into the regulator incase the short is happening where the headlight is?. Then just wire the headlight directly to the battery to where it only coems on when I turn on the key.
Sorry I am not to mechanic savy.

Anyone have any ideas???. (2 New stators and 3 new regulators) and the bike is still not charging. It Is acting as if the regulator is not even plugged in But they are?
It does not regulate the voltage to the light. It does not charge the battery /: ,.
Is it possible that the problem with the key problem is causing the issue?. The short I guess?.
Please help. Thanks

Oh and The key thing is no big deal at all. The regulator is the real issue. I can live with the key switch.
