I winter just north of Myrtle Beach and have talked to quite a few dealers in the area. The 50cc China-scoots work well in a rental situation, providing you don't keep them in the fleet too long. One dealer told me he get's them for right around $400 delivered, and is able to rent them for $130 a day three day minimum during Bike Week. At the time he was gearing up inventory to over 120 bikes. He rents them the rest of the season and then sells them at near cost. Great business model in a very unique situation. There are no registration, or inspection or insurance costs to be absorbed. His disclaimer and rental contract are a laywer's wet dream, and South Carolina judges and juries are loath to award claims to anyone who signs away his or her rights.

Our condo in Little River, SC (North Myrtle Beach) is on the intercostal waterway. We're on the second floor of a masonry building. But we're still in Pittsburgh til the winter.

The scooter hierarchy is pretty much the same today as in 2008. 1. Japanese and Italian 2. Taiwanese 3. Chinese ... and there is a huge variance in Chinese Quality. The normal Chinese business model values quantity vs quality.

If all else fails....just remember: If everyone is passing you, you're going too slow; if you're passing everyone else, you're going too fast.

I'd check with Jim at Rapid Repair. He should be able to shed some light.

Think of the Bintelli as a Chevy, and the Lance as a Lexus. A 150cc carb vs a 163cc FI is not apples to apples, and I'm gonna take a SWAG ( sophisticated wild-arse guess) and say there's probably a grand difference between them. Both represent a good value at their respective MSRP's

Geico, Progressive, Hartford, and Rider ( in the East) tend to be the leaders in MC insurance. I have Rider with 100/300 limits and my policy was $60. However I substantially upped the uninsured and underinsured provisions, because of all the uninsured idiots out there and my premium went to $130 on the Vulcan.

There were originally 6 importers that all used Znen as their source of supply, Puma, Gorilla( now Wolf),BMS, Red Streak, Motorino (Valley) and Bintelli (now sourced from another). Puma was pretty aggressive, and perhaps too aggressive on their pricing. The overall drop in scooter sales did them in.

I don't think Puma ever marketed the 250...but good luck anyway.
