Hi, I have a SYM 125cc scooter, and in the last few weeks it started to make noise that similar to metal knocking sound. The noise was sometimes louder, sometimes less louder, and sometimes even disappeared. I opened the variator cover to do a routine service (replace belt, slides, rollers weights), and i also cleaned everything. I did notice there is a free play between the Drive Boss Bush and the MOVABLE DRIVE FACE. (i attached a picture of the parts i mean). After i assembled everything and i started the scooter, that metal noise was even louder than before. I took apart everything from the variator, and i started the engine like that, and there was NO metal knocking noise. I uploaded to youtube 2 videos. One is with everything assembled in the variator, and you can hear the noise. Second video is when i ran the engine without the variator parts installed, and there is no noise. Do you think that metal noise can be caused by the free play between the Drive Boss Bush and the MOVABLE DRIVE FACE? Thank you.

Hi,
Just an update. I replaced the entire front variator, and problem is solved. No metal noise.
