I went back to 12g sliders, and now the belt is not climbing at all i can remember how frustrating it was tuning my 50cc cvt. i made so many changes with poor results that i forgot the original set up. if you aren't already start writing down the changes and how it performs. writing down the rpms, weights and contra spring will come in handy if you are trying to tune the cvt. i would dbl check the sliders are seated right and while in there open clutch pulley by hand just to be certain something isn't jammed.

Now do you guys think one of ScrappyDog's vent/oil catch systems be worth trying at this point? Or would this just be bandaiding the symptom and not curing the problem? i would do an oil change mainly to see how much oil is in there. then fill with about 750ml, that is less than a quart. if it's spewing that much oil something is wrong. either pressure build up or accidentally over fill. i'd do the oil change so you can eliminate one possibility.

now that my engine is much quieter after replacing worn out cam i'm hearing a faint rattle. sounds like a loose gear gently grinding. is that a bad starter clutch?
if so whats the damage if not replaced soon?

I put 10g sliders on my 125cc GY6 scoot and it made take off very hard, what do you mean by very hard? do you have a tach.? it makes tuning the cvt much easier. it's been awhile since i messed with weights so someone correct me if i'm wrong... every 1 gram will change rpms by about 600 (u may want to research that number, it's been awhile). you want your rpm's near 7,500 for max torque. so by reducing your weights by 2 grams you increased your rpm's by 1200. get a tach imo.

gearbox gasket i've never replaced one so not sure if it's as easy as removing the gear cover but would assume.

i'd say no, not a common problem. it's either a gasket leak or a crack. either way it doesn't sound good. Is that gasket replaceable? which gasket is that? without good pics or vid i can't say for certain if it's the gasket.

My scoot is leaking gear oil from the CVT cover screw hole next to the gear oil drain plug; is this a common problem? How can it be fixed? i'd say no, not a common problem. it's either a gasket leak or a crack. either way it doesn't sound good.

well, for months my scoot has symptoms of a weak/dead battery but if i let off the starter for a second then it will start perfectly fine. didn't realize i might have loose connections or burnt wires until today. found one of tvnacman's old posts about burnt wires. scoot is finally running great. i even solved my starting issue by replacing the camshaft. the bearings were in bad shape. all that time messing around with wires when the real problem was a bad bearing creating a huge load on the engine.

I recently just made a gasket out of a sheet of gasket paper " the cork kind " . I traced the valve cover over the gasket material and cut it out. I also put a thin coat of gasket maker on both sides of the gasket . it seems to be holding up pretty good . interesting, if it leaks again i may have to try that.

i'm thinking about going out to eat. my parts arrived yesterday and got everything installed before dark. replacing the worn out camshaft has made this scoot sound much better. it even turns over much faster now. only problem is a oil leak Ewh, where is the oil leak ? i think the valve cover. its not a bad leak, just a few drips., either i started the engine too soon or this old tube of ultra black is no good... just got back from a 7 mile trip, scoot is running great. soon as it cools down i'm gonna clean the engine up and redue the cover.
