Thanks for the reply! I know it has a carburetor as I've cleaned it before. I think I mistakenly used "turning over" when what I really meant is that the engine won't start. When I press the electric start the scooter sounds like it's about to start but the engine never fires. Does that indicate it's turning over? Not totally sure how to tell the difference. Should I still check the spark plug or should I go straight to the carburetor and fuel filter? Apologies for the mixup in termnology. Ok, Considering what you said, i think you're better off with addressing the carb and fuel filter. With this situation, its very important to soak all the jets and small carb parts in carb cleaner and clean the jets with a wire and a twist tie wire. Blow them out if you can. Checking for spark is pretty easy and you can do that later if it still doesn't start.
Yes, that means the scooter is turning over. The crankshaft is turning when the starter is engaged, hence the term "turning over".

Oil change

I’m not screwing it in. Just dipping it . It’s on the center stand in my garage. 550 ml and it’s right in the middle of the dipstick. Was just wondering if maybe the oil isn’t going all the way into the case. Don’t know if that’s even possible. Did you remove the oil drain bolt on the left side of the scooter and the oil filter drain plug on the right side as well?

Oil change

I changed the oil on my scooter today, the owners manual calls for 750 ml but the dipstick is reading full at 550 ml. I made sure all the oil was drained properly. A 200 ml difference is kinda a big mistake if the owners manual is wrong. Anyone else have this happen? It sounds like you're checking the oil level after screwing in the plastic dip stick. That is not the correct way to check your oil. Please watch this video: itistheride.boards.net/thread/8303/checking-oil-level-proper

I just adjusted the carb according to the guide in the resources section and it made a good, noticeable difference! The scooter did bog down once when I was going about 50 mph, but I believe that was from losing constant gas pressure from the tank as I was just about empty. I filled up and cruised just fine at that speed. I'm happy that it's running well!

Yup, that's correct. Speaking of the airbox, do any of you know where I can buy this air filter for my scooter? I haven't been able to find it on ebay or amazon yet. The current air filter is still clean but I'd like to know where I can buy one from.

Can someone provide a picture or video showing where where all the vent lines and fuel lines should be hooked up? I think I messed up the proper line connections when I put the carb back in. I don't have a universal pic avaliable, but if you take a pic of your carb/intake area I can try to help out. I just watched a few youtube videos and I'm pretty confident that I know where everything goes now. I should get it all back together tonight and i'll see how it runs. It's kind of a pain having the gas tank under the front of the seat. I think its much more convenient to have it located further back near the tail light.

Ok thanks for the help. I used the red high temp rtv silicone on there and it's drying now. I'm working on setting the correct valve clearances and cleaning the carb today, I probably wont have time to get it all back together today, but I'll let you know if the issue is solved when I get it started again!

Yup that's correct. After the engine breaks in, you can run whatever type you like.

It could very well be from the engine not being broken in yet. How many real miles are on your scooter now? Make sure you change the motor oil and gear oil asap if you haven't already. You should be getting eighty five-110 mpg based on your driving. It's been a while since I had my Roketa bahama 50cc so my memory isnt the best on 50cc 4T mpg, but ninety mpg seems to ring a bell as far as what I was getting with it. I've done around 200KM or so. Manual says for oil change at 300KM, then every 2000km. What kind of oil is usually recommended for 139 ? I'm seeing different reports for engine oil and 80W90 for gear... Ok, so I'm guessing that your engine is just breaking in. When you change your oil in 100km, you will probably notice some small flakes in the oil due to the engine breaking in. Your fuel economy should get better after the first 1000-2000km is put on the bike. For motor oil, most scooter manuals recommend 15w-40. I run 10w-40 conventional oil in mine since its hard to get 15w-40 oil made for gas engines in America. If you ride in a very hot climate, 20w-50 is a good option too. You can run semi-synthetic or full synthetic in these if you so wish, but I prefer to run conventional oil due to the cost and how frequently the oil is changed. There is no need to get special motorcycle oil, just any motor oil around that weight will work well. You are correct on the gear oil type.
