Remove the petcock from the bottom of the fuel tank to get all the gas out of there. Then drain the fuel hose out and spray carb cleaner thru it. Next drain the carb with the drain screw on the bottom and spray some carb cleaner thru the gas line inlet nipple to fill the float bowl. Let it sit a minute and then drain it out using the float bowl drain screw. Close the drain screw, put the petcock back in the tank, attach the fuel line and fill it with fresh gas (I recommend octane some scoots specs placard only calls for 87 octane but I always run the highest I can get). Hopefully it will start now. if it doesn't you need to take the carb off and take it apart and clean the whole thing.

So is it the heavier the more acceleration less top end? No. The exact opposite.

I just broke down and bought the belt from the link above. It sounds like it is a good one. It was 46.00 with shipping so it better last a damn long time. I wish I had the 842 20 30 belt size. You can get a Gates Powerlink Kevlar belt for under 30.00 with free shipping and I was always under the impression powerlink kevalr belts where the best but maybe MRP belts are better. We will find out i guess.

DX gy6 is a waste spark engine. Spark plug is fired at the end of the compression and exhaust strokes.
Not to insult your intelligece but you did have the engine at TDC before you lined up the cam gear holes with the head correct?

I got a schwinn 49cc for $300.00 last spring. Drove 6 hrs round trip to get it. The kid had shoved a 125 carb on it and ran it with no air filter or mud flap. (People are such idiots). After getting the right carb and fixing it up and adding a no rev limit cdi and high output coil some worthless piece of $#!t stole it. Then I bought my second scoot a yellow peace motorsports 49cc which just needed a new cvt belt for 200 dollars. It ran and drove great. I put a bbk, high flow head and a bunch of other mods on it but it still wasnt fast enough so I sold it for 400 and built my custom 150/49cc swap. www.itistheride.boards.net/index.cgi?board=cbs&action=display&thread=1788

If you want better acceleration you need to go lighter. As far as the slider weight i have heard that The sliders are weighed in at one gram under weight because a slider performs similar to a roller one gram above its actual weight. Not sure if its true but thats what i've heard,

It doesnt make sense because its wrong
As a general rule of thumb
Lighter Weights= Faster Acceleration with Less top speed
Heavier weights= Slower Acceleration with Higher top speed
Of course this is not always true. For instance if you take and put 10g rollers in a stock 49cc it will have poor acceleration and a low top speed because the gear ratio climbs too quickly and the weak motor cannot propel the scoot any faster and will just bog down.

Yep. Just throw that thing out and block off any hoses that lead to it. All that thing does is get in the way and it is strictly for emissions purposes.

Well if i can't just change my pulleys and get a different belt size then i guess I'll have to break down and spend the money on that belt unfortunately. Thanks

So I have a scooter that has a 821-20-30 sized belt. Is it possible to change to a different size. Preferably 842-20-30. Is it the variator/rear pulley that makes the scoot need a longer belt or is it the length of the case that is different? I cannot for the life of me find a good belt in this size. The best thing I can find is this belt (link is below) which comes to almost 50 dollars with shipping and I have no idea if it is actually going to last me of if it is some overpriced Chinese made garbage. www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-09310k--80002C09-1276806594.jsp

Wouldn't you need a bigger jet to run a 23mm carb to keep the a/f ratio right? More air can get in...so you need to get more fuel in?
