Hey everyone! Kreider here again. I need some help figuring out a problem with my throttle on my roketa 150.
I recently put a new carburetor, CDI unit, and intake manifold into it, because the scooter was dying at high speeds (which was bad in traffic). Now, I think my problem has reversed.
When I first start in the morning, I Idle fine and i get up and go fine. I get to the road, and I can go 40-50 mph without much problem at all. I continue on, with a few starts and stops, but then at the same exact point in the road everytime, I will come to a stop sign stop then give it gas, and the scooter will die when I take it out of idle. I have to pull over each time.
When I have pulled over, I have found that if I idle as high as I can I can rapidly twist the throttle and go to WOT. If I do that 2 or 3 times, my motor revs up and opens up and I can travel along the road so long as I don't dip back down. Basically after riding for about 5-10 minutes or so, I can only give like zero throttle or go from half throttle up, and if I use in between, the motor sounds like it's being shut off (and then it dies).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hey everyone,
So I ended up just buying a new carburetor off of ebay, with really high reviews and such. I installed it and now, it runs really well at high speeds! That's good.
Only problem is now, it starts and idles correctly, but after about 5 minutes of riding fast and coming to a stop, it dies when I give it the throttle. Today, I rode it to school, and was able to keep up with traffic the whole way there, but when I had to stop at a stoplight and turn left, my bike completely died, in the iddle of traffic. I adjusted the air-fuel mixture screw, but it didn't really do anything.
What can I do now?
And by the way, thank you all for helping me with my in competencies.

Another update:
Today, I replaced the fuel vacuum pump with a new one from online, and I'm still having the same problem. It will run fine when going about 20mph or less, but above that, or going up hill, or when I go a higher throttle for anything more than about 15-30 seconds, it will start to lose power, make a hollow "popping" sound, and eventually lose all power. I'll turn the throttle from full to nothing, in between, anywhere I can, and nothing happens, besides that the engine sounds a little bit different.
I haven't yet replaced the cdi and spark plug, but I've readjusted the valves, completely cleaned the carb, new petcock, adjusted the carb correctly, got a new battery, fixed a fuel leak, and replaced the hose from the air filter to the carb.
I'm at my wit's end. It acts like it's about to die when I start from a stop, or dies uping stopping, and dyings while pulling into traffic. Is there anything else I can do?

I actually already replaced it, because I knew that it would be causing a problem. I can’t get a picture because i threw the old tube away and put a new one on.

Kreider here again. here is the picture. imgur.com/p2fNyTzSo, I tightened the screw , and it take care of the majority of the problems that I am having! awesome. But, now, I seem to be back to square one: the scooter dies when I come to a stop, after I have ridden it for awhile, or ridden it pretty fast, or ridden it up a hill. I can tell when It's about to happen, because I hear it start to... miss it's correct timing? I guess thats the term for it. It doesn't sound uniform in the engine. It'll go, and then kind of hiccup, then go strong, hiccup more, and then eventually, it will bog out, regardless of how much fuel I give it, or if I let it come to a stop. Is there anywhere else I could be getting a fuel leak? anything else I can adjust? thanks! kreider

Okay! Update again. So, I adjusted my valves and idle and everything, and I took it for a spin, it drove really well... For the first day. Today, I took it to school and to work. It was perfect on the way to school, alright on the way to work, and it died about 5 times on the way home (downhill!)
I filled up the tank today, but now the gauge reads as only about a quarter tank. As I pulled in, I realized that it was leaking fuel! The tube that drains fuel from the carb attaches to a little thing with a screw on it, and the screw was loose and leaking fuel. Bugger.
So, I tightened it. I tried to start it, but it didn't want to start. I'm praying that the problem will be fixed.
Does anyone know where that little tube is supposed to go? Or it it correct?

Hey everyone! Update number 2.
So, I decided to readjust the valves again, at top dead center. One problem, though, is that I had messed up with my feeler gauge, and I found out that I had actually used a .008 instead of a .005. I only have a .008, and because of that, I adjusted it to .008
Then, I tore apart the carburetor and DRENCHED every part that moved or looked like it could be dirty with carburetor cleaner. I tightened all the jets, put everything in place, and cleaned basically everything outside and in.
I replaced the hose that goes from the air filter to the carburetor, because it had a large tear in it. I hooked up all the hoses with all the clips and everything. I also had pulled off the petcock, and cleaned the fuel part of it with carburetor cleaner.
I also checked the fuel filter to see if fuel flowed clearly, and it did. I know for sure that fuel gets into the carb because I tried to turn it over without hooking up the fuel drain-out line (the one on the bottom of the carb), and fuel got everywhere.
The oil has been changed and my battery is fully charged.
I started it up, and it would immediately respond when I gave it some gas. I took it out for a spin, and it worked for about a hundred yards. Then, when I came to a stop, it died on me. It took forever to turn it over again. I tried adjusting the carb to be lean and to be rich, but the same result happened each time.
Along with this, I noticed a hose coming out of the top of the main engine case, near the carb, that seemed to just be a cut air hose or something.
I haven't yet replaced the spark plug or the CDI unit, because it got to dark outside.
I have no idea what else to do. Am I adjusting it wrong? Do need something else? literally any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
Johnathon

Hey Everyone! Kreider here again. As I try to graduate from being a scooter virgin to a scooter toddler, I realized that I'd like to know how to make my machine run at it's peak performance.
Can anyone show me where to find all of the links and posts to go to in order to accurately tune up everything on a scooter? From carbs to engine to filters, valves, anything and everything that you can tune (and how to do it). I'm looking forward to taking a Saturday and really tuning up my Roketa Tahiti 150cc.
Thank you!

Hey everyone, I wanted to update the situation.
So, I fixed the problem with the starter, and it works fine. I had thought that the intake was loose, but that's tighened up now. I found Alley's guide on carb tuning, and did that, which seemed to make a difference a little bit, and it would bog down a lot less, but as i took it on the road near my complex, I had it bog down while driving and die when i was going. I could barely get the thing to start at all after that, off to the side of the road!
I adjusted the a/f screw a few times. I cleaned the carb. The only thing left is that i ordered a new air hose that goes from the filter to the carb, because of a large tear i found in the carb.
Regardless of it i made the carb lean or rich, when I would quickly give the scooter gas, it would bog down, and if i held it there, it would die. But, If i gave it a quick turn, and backed off as it bogged down, and then gave it a quick turn again, the RPMs would boost right up.
Along with this, it seems to have a "popping" noise coming from inside it now.
Any ideas, suggestions?!? I got a new spark plug i will be putting in soon, and cdi, but i diubt those are the problems.

I have checked the carburetor to make sure it moves smoothly, cleaned the jets, the float floats properly, and everything moves smoothly. Could it be an airflow problem? There's nothing that is jamming the air hose, but it is pretty frayed on the end where it attaches to the carburetor. Also, could this be related to electronics? My electric starter recently stopped working.

So an update. I adjusted the valves, and that took care of the problem of the scooter stalling when I stop (I also adjusted the idling rpms and changed the oil), but I still have a problem: after getting up to about 35mph, my engine will start to stall out, and die, regardless of how much i give it. I looked at my engine, and I see that the hose going from my air filter to my carburator is a bit frayed. Could that be the issue?

Hey Everyone! This is my first post here, and after reviewing the board rules, I think I'm in the right place to ask a question.
My 2007 Roketa Tahiti 150cc will ride normally, until I get it onto the road and then exceed 20mph or so. It runs pretty well when it is going that fast (at about 35mph today it actually stalled while was on the road, and I had to pull over), but when I come to a stop the scooter stalls and dies without idling. This has happened a couple of times over the last few days. I even ride it in my apartment complex a short distance, and get up to about 20mph and when I stop it stalls out.
Today I tore it apart and cleaned the carburetor, which looked like nothing was wrong with it at all. My friend and I then adjusted the idling speed (i think it's called that: I adjusted the little screw with the spring on it attached to a cable that makes the engine rev more) so that it idled just below where the wheel would spin. We WD-40'd it because it would stick a bit to much, which got it right, and it seemed to work for a little bit, but then just after, I got it up to speed and stopped, and it died.
Additional information to this: I just replaced my battery with a 12 Volt 7 Amp battery. Also, The electric starter wasn't working until I put a new battery in, and when I did, it worked for a few days, but it stopped working a couple of weeks ago.
So, I'm pretty lost on what to do. Can anyone offer any suggestions, or point me to the forum thread that would answer my question?
Thanks! -Johnathon
