I'm leaning towards CDI here as well but don't rule out loose coil or solenoid bolts. The CDI is the most vulnerable component on a scooter and even the slightest moisture inside the socket (the harness that holds the wires) can cause all kinds of . Anything from slightly out of tune to not running at all. You may want to order up a no rev CDI and get a bit more from your scoot too.

That lift sounds like a good idea for me seeing as I tend to do my own work. As for the exhaust parts, I ordered from www.partsforscooters.com. If you have a standard GY6 type motor it should have the exhaust mounts directly below the engine, straight up and down. As long as you don't have a modded cylinder head, the stock size is 6mm. They come as a kit and be sure to pick the right one, it'll run you $14.99 plus shipping (usually another $5).

Well, I'm not driving it continuously and I've already got the parts on order. The good news is that the exhaust isn't totally off, it's just short 1 of the studs not both. I will be careful though, the last thing I need is a ticket for noise.

Honda elites are nice scooters and properly taken care of, they'll do 45 all day. Gumout and products like that are NOT good for rubber seals or gaskets like the diaphragm. You're better off taking the carb off, breaking it down and unclogging ports, jets etc with pipe cleaners and let the metal soak in carb cleaner overnight.

along with scrappy you can also look on www.partsforscooters.com they have a good selection and shipping is pretty quick. Just an afterthought though, most if not all of the sites above the chat are good and have good reputations. The mods here won't tolerate shady businesses on here because it reflects on them. So, you can pretty much trust most everyone on here, I've yet to read a bad thing about most of them aside from shipping errors.

Darn it all, these roads in this town suck! My exhaust is taking a beating on them and thus the stud snapped off the exhaust. I've ordered new studs, gasket and bolts. Now I'm riding around with something that sounds like a mid 80's chevette with no muffler! Anyway, I should have the parts by the weekend or beginning of the week. Aside from that some older lady pulled out right in front of me today causing me to flat spot my rear tire. I don't think she saw me at first but she did hear my loud exhaust and stopped just enough for me to swerve around the nose of her car. A good testimony for the saying "Loud pipes are a safety feature".
