would it constantly leak oil, would it be underpowered, and be loud enough to wake the dead, like all Harleys For your information, Not all Harleys leak oil, my 1950 Pan Head, my 1986 FLHTC and my 1993 Springer don't leak a drop. Underpowered? ?? Where do you get your information. Loud enough to wake the dead, yeah lots of them are. Jim That's cause you're a motorcycle mechanic, and are able to fix yourself what it took years of AMC to screw up. Did I tell the story about how I was stopped for loud pipes, at Sturgis, on my HONDA!!!! (Shadow Sabre) Yea, a scooter is a scooter, and if made proper and priced for the cost of the scooter, and not inflated cause of the name, yea, I'd buy one. The part about this being the time, well, I dunno. I know 'we' here all think scooters are the shi...thing...but most of the rest of 2 wheelers think that their V Twin is the shi...thing. I plan to do a trike conversion on my Honda Sabre, and may keep a Maxi Scooter (maybe a Burgman 650) in the geeeradge for fun. Jim, Thanx again. My happiness for the future depends on YOU. If YOU fail me, I'm coming to get ya. (LOL)

I was looking for a trike (for now) that didn't cost $30K (that I don"t have) or $10K i don't wanna spend. My choices were very limited, which led me to the Icebear Zodiac. (Any trike kit would add $4K to the cost of any scooter, which puts me back at $10k) (I need an automatic trans)(no L leg)
Not arguing, just saying why I went with Ice bear. And, I get to call Jim and talk crap to eachother
I did some research on the Aprilla ??700X and really like it. May try it next

[replyingto=fido64]fido64[/replyingto]Was the tow ball/hitch already attached, or did you do a custom attachment for the hitch? I have noticed on some pics of the 150, it includes a tow hitch. Any suggestions of a proper location , frame wise,to attach said hitch in the event my Zodiac comes without one (which I'm sure it does-comes without one that is)
I would only plan on using it for short trips to the grocery store, or the toy store, or harbor freight, or the liquor store, or the motorcycle store, or....never mind.
Thanx

Once again, it depends on what you're trying to do. When I had my motorcycle, stock seat, a lot of us took off the vinal cover, trimmed down/reshaped the seat foam, cut out a space for a gel pad, and recovered with a staple gun.
Taking to a motorcycle seat repair shop woulda cost $100-$150 But, what the do I know, I'm the new guy.

I'm still stuck on the womans ins covering your medical but not your personal property. How can that be? It the accident was deemed her fault, and if she was ticketed, why is she/her ins covering your medical but not covering repairs to your scoot? And, what type coverage do youhave on the scoot? I can't imagine full coverage costs that much more than just liability?
But, yea , either way, best to get a new front end

Without seeing em side by side it's hard to tell. Some scoot bodies are the same, but with different engines. It is entirely possible, but without actually having one to compare mounting locations, etc, it's kinda hard to say.

I guess I missed the 'Why" part. Is it that you can't sit flat footed? Is it cause it looks cooler? When I rode motorcycles, we lowered em cause us short fat people couldn't reach the ground. I don't see that as a problem with a scoot (per se) I'm all for leaving the geometrics of the scoot they way they were designed, and just lower the seat/cut the foam down/reshape the seat, install a gel pad while you're in there, recover to match the wcoot, whatever. But, cutting shocks, lowering kit, front forks, that's all too much work, and I have no doubt it changes the handling of the scoot, let alone going over speed bumps.
Just a thought

How about forgetting about the center stand, and get a wheel chalk. screw it down to the garage floor and just drive the scooter in, lock it down, and press on. It may not be as high, but ya might be able to rectify that by adding a couple 2X6's to drive it up on. Just a thought. , I can't even get the girlfriends 150 on it's center stnad. and I'm only 63

Got another call from Jim yesterday. My Zodiac has been PDI'd (twice), crate built, and shipped as of last Fri. Is supposed to get here Monday (Which, I know, is April 1st) (Jim-this better not be a really BAD April fools joke!!) Again,I'm like a kid at CHRISTmas. I've got a little over 1000 things I wanna do to it, but gonna keep it stock until I'm sure all the bugs are outa it, and I can just enjoy riding it. And, I'm aware that if anything does go wrong, it ain't Jims fault. But, I do know, that if I do have any questions, I only have to make a quick call and he'll tell me where to go. (JK) I've really learned a lot these last couple weeks about not just this scooter/trike, but about scooters/automatic motorcycles in general. It's almost got me convinced that scoots/trike scoots/automatic trans/CVT motorcycles, may be the way for me to go. (other than long distance road trips that is, beings that I'm getting older [63] and only one leg)
But, let's get started on this Zodiac first, then we'll see.
More to come, no doubt. And, yes, this is a shameless attempt to revive the trike thread.

Jim Where are you/?? I'm like Sgt Schultz - I know Noooothinggg!!! But it sure sounds internal to the trans, like a slipped gear/shaft. I'm highly concerned cause I've ordered, not yet received, a new Zodiac, which , I believe , has much the same mechanil 'stuff'. Let's get this fingered out ASAP.

Sorry Davec, Did not mean to upset you due to your accident and the loss of part of your leg. But you have to not take things personal take me for example. Besides the Wound in my head in Nam that I already mentioned and made fun of I did not finish the whole story. In Dec of 1966 7 days before being pulled out of the field, I was supposed to be home for xmas. Well the hit the fan as they say we found the NVA we were looking for. A battalion 1500 dug in trenchs and bunkers against 500 of us. I was hit with 3 rounds on my left side one above the knee, one in my left hip and one in the arm. Needless to say all the bones in my left hip were shattered, no ball and cup and part of the thigh bone below the ball gone. I have a fused left hip the leg is 3" short and I have to walk with a cane. Been walking with a cane since 1968 cannot even get on a bicycle because I cannot open up the right enough for much of anything. Cannot run or cross my left or right leg If I am on the ground hard to get back up I have to use the small of my back to walk which has narrowed the bones in the small of my back and pinches the nerves. When that happens and I am walking my left just collapses when the pain shots down the leg and I have to be ready otherwise I am down. But you learn to live with it and ONLY if someone makes a comment that is NOT IN FUN about my condition will I respond in kind. They call me gimp and they call my built up shoes and gym shoes with 3" added to the soles and heel THE TRUCK TIRE(HAHA), but it is all in fun and I take that way. So I am sorry if you took it the wrong way, that is a funny skit and I have put that skit up and others to get some humor going on the FORUMS I belong to. Don't worry it takes some time, latter on you yourself will make fun to others about your condition and they will respect you more for it trust me, I have lived with this since it happened back in 1966. Because of my condition is why I got a Trike, to get on it I sit on it sideways and slide my right leg over the hump and pick up my left leg onto the footboard stretched out. Cannot sit with a bent knee like you would in a chair because the small of your back does not bend that much. I have to buy shoes and gym shoes that are slip on's because I cannot bend far enough to tie them. Many other things are difficult but you do the best you can. Alleyoop Oh DAMN!! There I go again, forgetting to put in that LOL at the end. Alley I totally apologize for my own sick sense of humor You did not offend me in any way, which is why I added the 'call me stumpy' line. I'm probably the biggest clown around and make more fun of myself that anyone else ever could of me. I've, so far, learned to live with my missing leg. When I wear my prosthetic leg, and go to Walmart, I sometimes ride a cart and leave my leg hanging over the side. I most often wear shorts to show off my POW/MIA decals on my socket. No, you didn't offend me in any way. I screwed up by not ensuring I was just messin' with YOU!! So, I'm all for living with our challenges, and talk more about trikes and riding. Alley I really am sorry and I do humbly apologize for my lack of sincerity. Monoped Dave
